    Hi all,
Just wanna say that this stuff is pretty good! I have fair skin and used the Fair-Normal version and today I have a nice even colour! I'm a newbie to fake tan and wouldn't be bothered with the normal tans but this stuff is good!
One question though, how do I stop my knees/elbows from going too dark?
    Thanks

    Nala

That stuff is impossible to find. I was in Birmigham this weekend and when I asked if they had any the salesgirl looked at me in disgust and said no.

I got some at the weekend in Roches Stores and have applied it a few times since then. The colour is quite natural - not an oompa loompa in sight!

Go do it the proper way or accept how you look!

mix some mosituriser with the tan when applying it to elbows, knees and ankles

How does it work? Does the colour come from the product or do you have to expose yourself to the sun as well?

I too have been looking for this stuff.

Is it really just a nice light tan? I don't want a dark tan thingy as I'm naturaly whiter than white. Just want to put someting on before I hit America in June. Don't want to look like a dead corspe walking lol :)

Grrr, there is an absolute drought of the stuff. Haven't found any in the West Mids. Even the Boots site is sold out of them. Gotta get my boyfriend in Dublin to start looking for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,518 ✭✭✭✭dudara

There's some in Tesco Wilton in Cork.

Must definitely investigate this, because I too also have whiter than white skin, and the paleness of my legs could be used as warning lights to land aircraft.

Dublin also has a shortage of 'holiday skin'.

But! Penney's on O'connell st have LOADS! In Fair skin and Medium tan versions!

I think it's great, i've been using it for three days and I have a nice light tan.

Apparently boots in Limerick sold out of 250units of this body lotion last Saturday.

I saw it in Dunnes Grocery in the Ilac while buying lunch (it's taste's well naff), it was on a promo stand facing the check-outs.

Didn't buy it, cos I didn't think it would go well with my pasta

Some of the smaller chemists in Dublin have it - I know that the chemist on Bath Avenue (beside Slattery's pub) have it, as does the chemist in the IFSC. My friend got it in Roches last weekend if those places are a bit awkward. I like it (smells better than fake tan and doesn't destroy the bedclothes!) but unfortunately the bf picked up the normal/ fair skin one and since I use it to top up my fake tan I really could have done with the darker one :(

Roches in Blackrock had a big promotion last weekend but there's not a drop to be seen since! I've used it for a few days in a row now and I really like the colour. Think I got the pale one. Going out tomorrow night and wearing a skirt, so very pleased with the colour. It looks very natural and it's so easy to apply as well. Much prefer it to my usual stripey fake tan nightmare.

Ah good, was just afraid it would smell awful like most fake tans do. I know it's not a fake tan per se.

    Meh.

    Thanks Nala.

I really want to try this - I never do fake tan, usually, but this one sound good. I think the company "misunderestimated" how much demand there would be so it might be scarce for a while!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,386 ✭✭✭Attol

I got it today! I'm so pleased with myself. I walked straight past it at first and saw the Johnson's Holiday Skin section with a "Out of Stock" sign in both Boots and Superdrug. Turns out Superdrug had it on the door on the way in. Yay!

Yes, it's really nice, quite like fresh pineapple!

my friends have been using this and it looks really natural! you stil have to be careful thought because one friend is extremely fair and she never washed it from between her fingers and it's very streaky.. i'm quite fair myself, NEVER want to use fake tan-don't wanna be an 'oompa loompa'! but i might give this a go!

Yeah, I've heard good things about that Holdiay Skin stuff. I'd love to try it, but like the majority of people, I have yet to find a bottle.
    Happy hunting, everyone. :p

USE WITH CAUTION. I put this on last night. Put it on all over my body. I'm not that pale but now have random streaks showing. I don't have sensitive skin either and can use any products but this reacted badly with me. My thighs came out in a huge painful rash.

Same happened with me, I'm covered in streaks. Dunno if i'll be using it again

I only used it on my legs and they're a little streaky in places. Plus the colour is too dark for me, even after only 2 applications. And I'm using the normal/fair version!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,390 ✭✭✭Stench Blossoms

Do you know how long it takes to come off? My legs and arms look awful

I got a weird rash too, thought I was the only one! Bizarrely I only got the rash on my legs, and they should be well used to fake tan in all shapes and forms by now! Very annoyed as I thought it was going to be the answer to my prayers

I've a bit of a rash on the back of my leg aswell!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,386 ✭✭✭Attol

It's weird, it's only on my thighs. The back and inner parts. So uncomfortable. I put it on all over my body and the rest is rash free. I put it on Wednesday evening, Thursday morning woke up with the rash. Wore O'Neill's to try avoid discomfort and rubbing but still felt it when I walked. I put on loads of this Eucerin moisturiser stuff after my shower and by this morning(Friday) it was gone. I'll give it another shot on my arms and face but my legs are a definite no.

My rash is on the back of the calf of my leg, but I'd only shaved my legs a few mins beforehand, so maybe that's what it was?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 104 ✭✭gagalina

Glad I'm not the only one not reacting well to this stuff... Haven't really got a rash, but its more that my legs and arms are quite itchy ;-( Thought this stuff was my solution to the whiter than white legs ;-)

It's a shame, cause I like the smell and the colour it gives me - if you subtract the redness from the scratching that is!!

I'm still looking to get some, but I dunno anymore, has everyone here who has tried it got a rash/itchiness of some kind?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 127 ✭✭Pinx

I've tried it and it's been fine on each occasion. I'd say shaving beforehand might have contributed to the rash though. Even the gentlest body lotions cause my skin to sting (especially shins) after shaving.

Of course your skin will be irritated if you put fake tan on as soon as you've shaved!

And the girl who put her 'o'neills' on to stop the itching....erm, they're jogging bottoms, why don't you call them by their proper name? Weird.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 98 ✭✭grasshopper

It's available in the chemist in the rathgar village- going put it on tonight - watch this space will post results tomorrow

Because I live in England and a)they don't exist over here and b)I don't wear them for jogging, or ever jog for that matter. When have you ever heard someone say "she was wearing Irish made deck shoes with her jogging bottoms, loike oh my GOD"? You're far more likely to hear "she was wearing Dubes with her O'Neills, loike oh my GOD". Things are just called by their brand sometimes. Like GHDs are referred to as GHDs more often than as hair straighteners and people talk about their Levi's or Nikes all the time. I can't think of a single person I know who would call O'Neills anything other than O'Neills.

Hmmmm...I was going to use this because I thought the whole idea was that streaks were practically impossible to achieve with this product. I have so many bottles of tanning lotion that have only been used once or twice because it always turns out streaky and I end up with tiger legs! I dont think Ill bother now. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,386 ✭✭✭Attol

I think it was just not spreading it on properly the first day that caused streaks. I make sure to really rub it in evenly now and I don't try use half a bottle to speed things up. I haven't tried it on my thighs again but the rest of me seems pretty happy with it now. It doesn't look right on my face because I just kind of look yellow with it on but my arms looks gorgeous and natural.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,405 ✭✭✭NewFrockTuesday

I usually manage to get it done nicely on my arms, tho i do get the same problem as nala that my elbows sometimes end up darker. I find my knees and ankles always look darker even tho I do spend ages rubbing it in and loads of moisturiser with a long drying time to finish.
I got the spray tan done for a wedding once, even tho i think its a bit expensive to keep up, it was the best tan I ever had.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1 nich

I used this for the first time last night only used a very small bit on my arms and chest. It turned out great i thought not a streak in sight. Not too sure about the "fake tan smell" that comes off it after a while though!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,626 ✭✭✭Stargal

How much is this wonderstuff? And is it comparable to other brands? I usually use Lancome for my face and No. 7 for the rest of me, which I've found to be okay, except the Lancome is a bit dark and the No. 7 smells very strange!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,730 ✭✭✭✭simu

There's no sign of it being restocked yet in Galway. The special cardboard stand in the supermarket is being used for other products - such heresy!

They'd better hurry up because I'm going off the idea of making my skin darker again - it sounds like hassle and given that so many people have been persecuted so much for not having white skin, it can't be all that gross, right?
