the road home: celtic

the bhoys have finally returned to their home in champions league football and on the same night the huns fall deeper into that black hole.

apparently this progression means around £10m to celtic. even if this is as far as they go, it will set them up nicely for next season. that will cover o'niells spending this year so far. celtic have suffeed in the past do to financial difficulties so this influx of cash is welcome.

with man utd, liverpool and arsenal all seeded we could very well see celtic taking on some english talent. that would really give the pro "old firm in the premiership" camp something to talk about. celtic v liverpool a couple of years ago was amazing; 0-0 at anfield and 2-2 in glasgow.

any thoughts on celtic chances now! are they ready to step up to the challenge?

nah, rangers dont want the hassle of competeing in the champions league as they actually have to make an effort to win the league this year. smile.gif
oh, and one accidentla win in 10 doesnt mean anything wwman.gif

on a side note, most people will know i actually dont really care about scottish football coz its a load of crap. only rabis RA supporters like it for its 'irish' connection smile.gif
but can you actually justify the statement that celtics home is in the champions league.
for a start, how many times have celtic been in the champions league proper? how have they done. you may hate rangers (being a rabid RA supporter) but can you honestly say that they werent unlucky the last 2 seasons not to get to the second round. id say they were.
so, the champions league must be a summer home for celtic is it?
2 weeks in the sun and all that?

as for rangers falling into a black home, i think youre being optimistic

Yeah, How many times have rangers won the champions league proper? smile.gif

Rangers arent champions so they shouldnt be in the champions league!!!!! rolleyes.gif

you know its not very bright of you to make a statement where i can just remove the word rangers and insert celtic. lets have a go shall we...?

Yeah, How many times have celtic won the champions league proper? smile.gif

celttic arent champions so they shouldnt be in the champions league!!!!!
note: this one can be used for all the previous many years that rangers won the league.

you are not a very bright little boy are you?
come back to me when celtic have the sort of superiority that man utd have enjoyed over the last 10 years. face it, both celtic and rangers pretty mediocare, doesnt really matter what religion you are, does it...?

i am NOT a "rabid RA" supporter! i dont care for that sh!t, the reason i say the bhoys are at home in the top tier of euro footy is because of the clubs size and fans base (not just scotland and ireland)

the comment about you guys being moderators was a joke!

i actually enjoy scotish footy! its not all hit the floor when someone touchs you. its alot tougher. its much like first division footy... which i also like.

the whole liking celtic because of the irsh coonection thing... yeah! im guilty but not for any political or religious reasons.

i alos honestly believe that celtic could mix it with some top team in england. im not saying they'll take 6 points of man utd every season but i dont think they are all that much inferior. rangers on the other hand have hit bad times. players not happy. money running/ran dry. ranger have been doninant through the ninties in scotland but have achieve nothing in europe... celtic now have a chance to do something in europe. i dont think they have achance of winning it but i think they'll do better than rangers have done. this is why i made the statement that they are at home in euro footy.

cant we all just be friends...

As Celtic werent Champions of Scotland for many years, they didnt get into the Champions league. As Rangers were a SECOND PLACED team last season they got into the champions league.

Eamo my old bone china, Celtic won the European Cup in 1967 as I'm sure you know, which was the precursor to what is now the Champion's League. That's one more European Cup/Champion's League than Rangers have won.

I may be wrong here but I believe the only European trophy which Rangers have won was the Cup Winner's Cup in 1971, which they were in as a result of being runners-up in the Scottish Cup to Celtic that year (Celtic having won the Double that year so being in the European Cup again). So I guess it was the Not Quite The Cup Winner's Cup that year tongue.gif

Im guilty of supporting the celts for political and religious reasons. Its the way it is, so what smile.gif

No amount of bleeding heart, right wing thinking can get around the fact that lots and lots, even as far as 'most' people who support the Celts and the Huns do so with a large degree of religious bias, catholic or protestant.

Scottish footie rocks, as a Celtic or a Rangers game has more atmosphere than a weekend of premiership football. I enjoy the singing , the messin’ and the banter. You just don’t get that in England. Christ at Old Trafford you can hear a pin drop at times, no one has a scarf, and jerseys are few and far between. You get the odd ‘united….united’ Keano is right with his outburst last year, real fans its just not fun.

ok, let us discuss the finer points here.
the champions league did not exist back then. if i had wanted to mention, or indeed if any one else had had wanted it, im sure we would have. so, to my knowledge, celtic have never won the champions league.
now, why dont you f*ck off back to gordie land and support those stupid northern <unts who have won, er, even f*cking less than rushden and diamond

and so my orginal point still stands, how cn you call champions league football (not european cup, after all, this is coming from jaarius) celtics home when they have played... how many games have celtic played in the champions league proper? my guess is probably none. i rank celtic fans up there with man utd fans for w@nkerdom. just slightly below scum of the earth newcastle fans.

Well, My Knowledge tells me that Rangers didnt do a Nine in a row!!!
    WHY??????

The league was reformed during the 1993/94 season, then Rangers only won 5 titles in a row and another 4 titles in the new league. tongue.gif

sorry, i forgot i mentioned that. er, no i didnt.
you seem to think that because i question your celtic achievements that im a mad rangers fan. er no, im not. i hate scotish football because i think it sucks.
i just cant stand to see the hypocrisy that celtic supporters come out with with regard to football.
still going on about champions league being the 'home' of celtic football. lets face it, celtic have never been in the champions league proper. so dont come back at me with shi7e about rangers only winning 5 and then 4 or whatever coz im really not interested. i dont care if rangers won 2 in a row or 42. its just celtic supporters who put down another team because theyre suppose to. apparently its writtenin a book. im a spurs fan and i think its nearly as sad as people who say i hate arsenal. actually i dont. i think theyre a cracking side. the reason i dont like them is coz they always beat spurs.
so any points you make about rangers are pretty off, try and make a point that doesnt involve another ofootball team. tell me exactly how celtic have a home in european football. go on. tell me how?

oh, and as for being a moderator, im allowed to post my opinion the same as you. just because you dont like it and im not a rabid celtic supporter like yourself doesnt mean you can throw comments about moderators about.
as before, come back to me when you have a decent argument. and please dont post any more crap.

ok, lets try and get this through to you one more time.
you said they were back home in the champions league.
celtic have never been in the champions league proper.
so how could this be their home?

now, your answer is going to be none. celtic have never been in the champions league proper.

therefor, my argument that celtic cannot have a home there because they have never been there wins.

now, is that in easy terms that you can understand?
it has nothing to do with rangers. it has nothing to do with rushden and diamond or newcastle or spurs.

celtic have never played in the champions league, and are not at home there.
    simple as that.
hmmmm, looks like ive torn your argumnet to crap really doesnt it.

For fcuk sake, stop supporting Celtic, you have no reason too, they are in the Scottish Premiership not the League of Ireland, both leagues are complete b0||0x but at least with the League of Ireland you have a valid reason for supporting it, not just because Rayo, Anto and Jacinta all wear Celtic jerseys 300 days of the year. Also Celtic are going to crash and burn in the Champions League, they don't have any European class players and frankly i think Rangers would go further than them.

I just said that Celtic won the European Cup(or as we know it now the champions league) something that Rangers have never done.

I have a great support for irish teams this is the reason for supporting the Celts and Im irish, like most irish people they support the celts.

We support the celts cos there good catholic lads like ourselves :p We have a bond with Scots, as people, and a lot of their supporters are of Irish origin.

And who gives a **** what some pe0n thinks - the celts won their league, beat the mighty Ajax (who had taken liverpool apart the week before BTW) - therefore we won the right to play in the Champions League. AS champions, not on the coat tails of Man U like liverpool and the arse down there in nasty HUNland.

I support both hoop'd teams, rovers and the celts. As someone who actually watches League of Ireland - I can say that a lot of the time its awful, the standard is piss poor.

END of story - watch Celtic at home, as see how much fun it is to go there. Its that much fun all the time. Watching English football is boring, paying a few hundred quid to go over to sit in the stand. Over in celtic park we sing and dance amnd mess about. Its great fun

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,099 ✭✭✭✭WhiteWashMan

well joe im glad you enjoy watching the celts. seems like ive hit a nerve there. but at the end of the day, celtic are still crap, and as the orginal post said celtic are back at home in european football, and i still contest that.
im glad youve now admitted that watching celtic has absolutely nothing to do with the actual football, but more about following other people and being boring enough to not have your own point of view. choosing a football team over religion. no, i dont think so. if that were true id be jewish.
celtic win a couple of cups and the supporters think theyre gods gift to football. come back to me when youve won as much as united have won in the last 10 years and then ask me, and if celtic have emulated man u, then i will happily say yes, there is a fine team.
love the way you all try to cover the fact that celtic are actually crap by going o a bout european cups etc and how crap rangers are. christ, even spurs have won in europe i nthe last 20 years.

as for english football, i paid nothing to go and watch leeds thrash bradford 6-1 last season. cant exactly say that was boring now can we? although im sure youll try, and then i'll say, but was it boring when celtic beat ranger 6-2 or whatever last season, but that will be ok. why is that?
lets face it, the only difference between rangers and celtic are the supporters. yis cant even get a different sponser ffs!
and before you comment, i used to go and watch rovers play when they were first at miltown, and then at the rds, and for about 3 years running i watched them play all the summer friendlies against scotish clubs. yes i have seen celtic play many times. mind you, thank god theyve got better since then. have you any idea how depressing a 1-0 win is on a cold windy day whe the only skill at the park is tryig to stop your fingers from freezing off?
scottish football sucks. its official. glad you took the time to read the opionions of a pe0n, and im glad it worked you up. means i must be right.

I will answer anyway, as Ive nothing to do for 5 minutes!

Im a soccer fan, I would not watch LOI footie if I was not. I follow the celts cos I have done since I was a nipper. Its good fun at ever game, the atmosphere in the ground is amazing, unlike anything you find in England (so says Roy Keane, who's played in a ground or two)

About cups, we've won our league, and cup for that matter, much more than Man U, or Liverpool  So you can shove your silverware up your arse :) - total trophies overall we kick your ass too! We cant judge on the same playing field, but one day we'll be in the premiership, then we can have a right good fight about it :)

OMFG! The 6-2 game was amazing, I was at a United game a few years ago where they beat Ipswitch lots-1 (or something), after the 3rd goal the united people did not even celebrate the goals, they shook hands and went back to the half way line *yawn*

Just cos your a pe0n, dont get upset :)

If you are then it is unfair to slate the opinions of others publicly just because you support United.

Whitewashman is about as rabid as Man United supporters get. He never bleedin' shuts about Prince Beckham. He goes to bed at night masturbating furiously to the thoughts of a rampant orgy with Alex Ferguson, Paul Scholes (mmmm ginger....), and those hunks of studliness, the Neville brothers.

I personally had to talk him out of killing himself when Jaap Stam was sold for daring to get out of line. As for when Cantona left, I just can't bring myself to recount that tragic time.....
