my flextone III XL arrived today along with a behringer fcb1010 and i'm well impressed..

The tone on this amp is divine (sorry bit of a gay word  )...

the amp modelling is on is really impressive... the jc120 delay and some chorus is just pure gilmour...even when i play it :D... and the mesa dual rectifier is just really sweet...i like the kinda new distortion sound with chorus and using kinda classic techniques and this is my baby..the sound i've been looking for for a year now.

the effects are split into 2 sections mods and delays...

the mods are tremelo, chorus ,flanger,phaser,uni-vibe and rotary.. they all work really well and would just about challenge the effects they are based on maybe except the chorus... i am very picky about my chorus anyway so i wouldn't pay any attention to me ;)

the delays are savage to not gonna go to into them its basically a dl-4 built into the amp..

the fcb1010 is a piece of piss to use just prgram sound into the amp and whatever patch u have selected on the foot pedal its automatically stored in the pedal...only starting now and i alreay love MIDI...roll on the G-major

    indeed,

im a fan of Line 6 (despite their lack of support for bassists), But they do make good products.
    Good purchase.

Sweet! I sent away payment for mine today! Cant wait! How many patches per bank and banks are there on the behringer? Can you set it so that switch one is phaser and switch two is chorus and then turn them on and off like stomboxes? I'd really consider getting the behringer if you could use it like this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

yeah they have a great quality price ratio...pity the ****in thin is so heavy

sorry dave i'm workin got busy there...yeah u can set it like that well kinda...basically what u do is just select bank 1 patch 1 set the flextone to your desired settings ,hold a button on the amp and hey presto its stored... not really what u said but the same effect .... i dunno how many patches per bank there is ...whatever number of patch buttons there are on the 1010 ...think its 10

Is there any sort of delay changing between patches on it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

not too sure what ya mean but the patch buttons also act as tap tempo buttons for the delays and rate buttons for the mods.. u can have say a 70ms delay in bank 1 and the same setup but with a 370ms delay on bank 2..that what u meant???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,693 ✭✭✭david

No, when you switch patches, there is a slight delay between patches, annoying. But they sorted this with the flextone III. It was a problem with the FlextoneII

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Sorry, bad choice of words. As freak said, it was a gap between changing patches. If you're playing a clean tone for instance and change to a distortion, would the sound stop for a few milliseconds?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

duh sorry lads i'm a tick no there is no delay as dave said its just smooth running all the way... reckon i could runn the g major and the flextone together off the fcb1010

I have to get my rack together! I reckon it could be done for about €1200-1500 with the help of eBay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,693 ✭✭✭david

Yep, Im ditchin the stompboxes apart from the whammy, and im either getting the shortboard or the behringer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,693 ✭✭✭david

    Me...

Mesa rackmounted dual rectifier -> Line 6 Pod XT Pro. Maybe a wireless too but i would be sorted with that. Oh and a Rocktron Ground Control midi switcher.

I spent €1500 on a new computer. No one has ever come up to me and said "wow, nice eh sound from those keys...". Thankfully.

    Marshall JMP-1
    G-Major
Peavey/Marshall/Mesa power amp (tube or solid state)

Lump all that into an Avatar 2x12 or a second hand Mesa (or a home built) cab and I'm set. I'd probably throw in a power conditioner, maybe a wireless unit, tuner, couple other gadgets but I'd survive quite happily with those four things, all controlled by a FCB1010.

I wouldnt get the JMP-1... I'd prefer a Mesa pre for the great distortions. Im dont like marshall distortion that much.

Trust me, you can get incredible tones from the JMP-1. I'll see if I can find the webpage.

One for sale (JMP-1) for 400 or 500 in the buy and sell if youre going rack.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

i'm quite happy with the flextone and i'm gettin the g major and have a nady wireless... i'd like to try a dual and triple rectifier and see how they compare before i got either one ..i'd like a talk box (don't laugh) not for the bon jovi styleee but for the dave gilmour end of things...ideally my delay would have a rack unit of its own

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

Ill see how i get on with the flextone first. The wah is kinda crappy... Proel something or other. Should i decide to sell itll be for a good price.

  • i just want a wah to mess about with, i had a lend of a crybaby for a while and couldn't really get the hang of it, so i couldn't justify spending that much money on one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

ah you'll flog that gear in no time dave... don't count your chicken though u may not like the flextone :p ... the h3000 version of that is sweet ...out of production though aren't they...they can do really amazing things...i'd like to try a rocktron xpression too.. heard one of them with a takamine acoustic..almost sounded mark knopfler/gilmoury

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I swear, that pedal is sex! I might keep it, its an amazing pedal. But the flextone delay might be enough for me.

No, I'm going to try and save my money. Next thing I'm going to get is either an all tube amp or a rack setup. Although, I do want jcoote's GT-6

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

You get €155 a week? I get €50 and I've to pay all my bills. Of course, I don't bother working but that's not the point :p

Yep! 155 for impulsive spending! But I'd say the €55 of that is spent on err... social life... and herbal remedies... hehe

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

jaysis lads i get 500 a week and still have to borrow before every payday

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,693 ✭✭✭david

Yeah... Im saving for an SG now. Should get it sometime in the summer. Sale of pedals should nearly cover the Line 6 shortboard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote
