Yes that is hilarious that a nation that have actually have achieved something significant in the context of world history are snubbed by a web search facility. Wow, it makes me feel so superior right now.

Couldnt give a dam about it. I think since its not multicultural then thats why liberal england are ignoring it.

He is the patron saint of England. They don't really celebrate it... some do. The Welsh don't celebrate their saint either

The BNP chose to day launch thier election manifesto which prolly says it all.

Most Engiish ppl never felt the need to make a big deal of St Georges Day.

    Mike.

    interesting Facts
However, unlike other countries, England does not celebrate it like Americans celebrate 4 July with fireworks. In fact, you are more likely to see big St Patrick parades in England celebrating Ireland's National Day, more than you would see any sign of St Georges Day being celebrated.

Despite the fact that St. George has been the patron saint of England since the 14th century, only one in five people know that St. George’s Day falls on April 23rd.

More than a quarter of people living in England do not even know who their patron saint is!

    tbh

there is no british national holiday.

The June bank holiday weekend is actually the Queen's official birthday, which is the UK national holiday. (I would say na na, but I'm not 100% sure)

It's not a public holiday in the UK (all the events occur on a Saturday every year), though it is in other commonwealth countries (though a lot of them celebrate it on different days). Civil servants get a privilege day though, as you say tacked on to the bank holiday weekend. In the Falklands they buck the trend by celebrating the Queen's birthday on the date she was actually born. Thie year the official birthday is on June 11. Handily enough Phil the Greek has his real birthday the day before (June 10 every year).

I want two birthdays a year - the only people with this that I can think of are Mrs Windsor of the Palace and Paddington Bear of Darkest Peru.

They had a special logo for Bloomsday though and only 12 people have ever read the whole book.

well there are a number of national holidays that england, scotland, wales and NI share, i am not aware of any of them being a 'british holiday'.

but you could be right with regards the queens birthday. gord bless her cotton socks, two long weekend bank holidays coming up!

anyway, it was in reference to 'national' holidays :)

besides, i work with danish people, and they seem to get more holidays than eveyone else put together.

I've always found that NUrses have more holidays than anyone else.

It's amazing nearly everytime i get a phone call from my sister or brother-in-law ( both nurses) they are ALWAYS off.
