ya can get pink/black for breast/testicular&prostate cancer in many shops around theres a list of where on http://www.mariekeating.com/
theres red in awear and bt2s for childline and i think jdsports still have the stand up speak up anti-racism ones the linked black&white ones!
good luck in your quest i'm happy that u are buyin them coz they're for charity and not for a fashion statement like so many!!!

Ohhhhh I how this new fad infuriates me

(Although not as bad as others, because it may well be a fad, but it's getting alot of money for various charities)

What the yellow star was to jews in WWII, wristbands are for ponces today. Identification tags

Sorry to but in but what are these bands all about. Ive seen them on loads of people. I think its a bit , well, im not saying!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,811 ✭✭✭*Page*

its charitys new idea! instead of pins/ ribbions/jars of honey/pens/ect. they have now brought out a rubber band that you wear!

the problem is like alot of things that start of with a cause, some people have taken it as a fashion crazy and are buying them off e-bay in shops that market them for their own profit!

its the world we live in i guess!

If you see someone with a wristband and ask them why they bought it, no doubt they'll tell you it was because they wanted to contribute to charity, even though most of these people are sheep who want to fit in with the current trend. And then you may even wonder, why would'nt they just donate the €5 or whatever it is to the charity in question, and leave it at that? Why advertise the fact that they give to charity?

But what really pisses me off is that companies like Nike and Addidas come out with their very own wristbands, enabling you to donate to them as opposed to the charities that really deserve it.

note the way this thread is "wristbands" where the others have been "charity wristbands"
at least this guys a little more honest about his approach to the whole thing.

    hrm...

well, we've had enough of these threads now to know that alot of people don't like the wristbands. That's fair enough, but let's keep the posts civil people.

The peace one is pretty cool too.. I've got the yellow 'Livestrong' one and another saying 'Support our troops'

My mate got one from a guy in school.. I'm gonna see if he can get anymore. If the guy hasn't anymore he might be persuaded to make more if there's enough people. My sister got some made from England, and it's more expensive for the 3d print, but I think it'd be worth it. I might try get a quote..

I got one for voting for our student union reps in my college in England. It says "Get the vote out" and has the NUS website on the other side. It was free and since I agree with the message I wear it. My new found love for politics scares me...

And yes, I do support the cause that my band is for with actions. I was encouraging all those around me who could vote to do so. I think that it is pure laziness to say that none of them want what I want so I'm not going to vote. You can fight to get your voice heard. I had someone tell me they didn't want to vote since none of the parties had similar views to him. After asking him about his views it was clear that they were very similar to those of the Lib Dems.
