Right so i've had one of these for years still with the EMG-HZ's that came as stock and i am unreally sickened because as far as i can tell both pickups just crapped out on me, now i havent looked inside yet so can someone tell me what i should be lookin for here?
i know people who can solder crap for me if needs be was thinkin bout gettin new pickups on it anyway so this could be a blessing in disguise but at the moment its just ****in annoying :(

    Look for loose wires.

How do you know they have "crapped out"? What sort of sound it coming from them? Gentle tap the pole pieces with a metal object (screw driver). Any sound?

Well for the last few days when i switched between pickups the sound in one would drop consideribly and then earlier today i switched and again the sound dropped and i switched back but the sound was still very very low.
There is also a ridiculous change in the tone out of the guitar.

Look for loose wires that look like they should be attached.

Apologies in advance if this is a totally stupid comment but do those EMG pickups need a battery?

    Nope. HZ's are passive.

Sounds like your switch is dirty/knackered. 3 way switch? Try cleaning it out with some compressed air or else replace it.
