I am a 5foot tall woman, I have a very physical job where I tend to run up and down stairs all day as well as doing quite a bit of lifting and carrying.
I walk everywhere, usually quite quickly and I also train in martial arts once or twice a week.

I am a size 10, which suits my height, and have a very obvious hourglass figure. I am very happy with my shape and physical fitness.

Lately though, I think my legs, in particular my thighs, are becoming too muscular. It isn't fat, because it is firm to touch and when I look in the mirror I can see the muscle tone. But I don't want them to get too wide.

Regular thigh exercises seem to involve toning muscle to reduce fat and I really want to stay away from that. Is there anything I can do to reduce the size apart from developing anorexia?

Sit on the couch and eat...

Seriously, you do make the connection between hard physical work and muscle?

You should rejoice in good looking, muscular legs.

Why would anyone want weaker legs?

Aerobic exercise performed intensely enough to cause your pulse to go above 170bpm will cause your body to cannibilise muscle for energy to the greatest extent, as well as burning fat and carbohydrate. The best time to perform the exercise would be in the morning before breakfast as you would have the least amount of stored energy in your body then. Do not eat any protein for a little while after exercising. The exercise would be very tough to carry out and inadvisable unless you already have a high fitness level (I assume you do from your post). Skipping and running would seem to me to be the best forms of exercise for this goal. You would have to perform the exercise for a reasonable period of time (say 20 minutes) for it to have the required effect. Doing it for quite short periods would build more muscle.
Personally, I don't think you should try to make your legs thinner. Sound very lovely as you are imo.

Thanks, I might try the skipping. Would I be right in assuming that dancing would have a similar effect? I used to go to clubs a few times a week and dance a lot for about 2 hours. I've stopped in the last few years so perhaps that is causing my legs to get bigger.

If so I definetely would choose dancing, it doesn't seem like work.
