Just noticed the lack of Irish bands in the threads here.

There have been lots of great Irish bands/albums that were every bit as good if not better.

Here are some of my favourites, just to refresh the memories.

A-House - Big Fat Merry Go Round
    Whipping Boy - Heartworm
Blink - A map of the Universe
Fatima Mansions - Viva Dead Ponies (all albums but this is their best)
    Microdisney - Crooked Mile
Frank and Walters - Trains, Boats and Planes

    Must check out "The Hitchers"

Why the lack of attention to Irish bands, is it not considered cool to like Irish music?

Some of the older Irish music can be very hard to track down but is usually worth it? There are a few users on soulseek that share old Irish Stuff but there are some albums I would love to track down but can't find them either to buy or download.

As i've said before, Tracer AMC. They're very like Mogwai, but better. They'd be very instrumental (i.e. no vocals) but damn good!

Ooooh, since I saw some pimping... The Daze music

    www.freewebs.com/thedaze

"As i've said before, Tracer AMC. They're very like Mogwai, but better. They'd be very instrumental (i.e. no vocals) but damn good!"

Can you buy their stuff in like HMV?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 6,525 Mod ✭✭✭✭dregin

Ah if you're lookin for instrumental look no further than ten past seven. I think they'd be better with vocals but they're still a great band.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,943 ✭✭✭Mutant_Fruit

Tracer AMC were available in that music shop on grafton street (is that HMV?). But i think i got the last copy :p They should be able to order it in. Alternatively i think you can get it off their site.

One thing, if they tell you its an american import, its not. Tracer AMC are from belfast, and it was produced up north afaik, so i don't know WHY they'd want to import from america... but thats what one guy told me in HMV when i couldn't find it at first

That Petrol Emotion - Babble/Manic Pop Thril
    The Last Post- Dry Land
    Stump- A feirce Pancake

    forgot these.

The Petrols were marvellous, five excellent albums. First three are best.
the first Last Post album Love Lost is good too but I agree that Dry Land is better

Stump's Fierce Pancake is a great record. I must give it a spin tonight. Buffalo, Charlton Heston and Chaos are my favourite songs on it

has the Jimmy Cake been mentioned yet?

not as far as I know ;)

    I forgot about them

Dublin Gone, Everybody Dead was the best album of 2002.
    A significant improvement on Brains.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 144 ✭✭IanluvsKathleen

Apart from "this use to be the future" Brains sucked. Dublin gone rules like an ass though
