The annual "April Is Poetry Month In Limerick" festival kicks off in a couple of weeks.

There isn't as much variety in terms of venues and activities this year, but there is an ambitious series of 4 book launches as well as some great guest readers on-line and in person.

For anyone with kids into the ol' Pokemon and soccer cards, we are running a card trading day at the Castletroy Park Hotel on Sunday. We have an area for parents to relax and enjoy free tea and coffees. There's 25% off tickets with the code TRADINGDAY

    Hi Everyone!

I am a Masters student in the University of Limerick and a couple of colleagues and I are doing market research on the night-life in Limerick and if late-night cafes are feasible within the city.

If anyone here would like to answer the survey below it would be very helpful.

Also if anyone has other input into the matter, such as safety issues, particular cafes that it could work with, transport issues, alcohol culture and the expense of 'pub-life', and if entertainment would be influential do the over all decision of choosing a café, over a pub.

Thank you in advance for your time.

This is not in Limerick but so close it hardly matters 🤣

Some of you might be aware the loop walks near O'Briensbridge but for those of that aren't they are really worth a walk or cycle. If you're doing the full loop (15km) I'd recommend starting at O'Briensbridge as there's a lovely coffee shop (tiny but with outdoor seating) in OBB

You can split it into 3 different walks if you don't want to do a full 15km walk. The walk to Parteen weir will bring right up to structure where the ESB controls the flow of water from the Shannon and divides it into both the Headrace Canal and the river itself that flows down to Castleconnell and out through the city.

The Walk to Errina Bridge follows the river downstream for a bit then follows the old Errina Canal (overgrown in places). At Errina Bridge you double back by the Headrace Canal - before returning, it's worth walking a short distance towards Clonlara to see the Errina Lock.

The Walk from Clonlara to Errina Bridge is probably best done by walking up the Headrace Canal and back down the Errina Canal pathway.

The best managed route of the three is the OBB to Parteen Weir as it has a gravel pathway the others can be muddy, hopefully someday these will be form part of a greenway to Killaloe.
