Afterhours seems to be in a loved up mood at the mo, what with the 'how much sex' thread and all that so I thought I'd put this one up for ye.
Why did you break up with your last partner? Also, what did you really like about them and do you miss that?

My girlfriends always end up getting married behind my back... that usually puts an end to the relationship.

okay... that's an exaggeration... It's only happened twice.

These days they just end up in the therapy.

I was never going to see her again. Actually there's a pretty good chance I'll see her this July. Awkward!

No problems with her other than not going to see her again. Actually she was a bit clingy.

Happened to me this year but i wanted. it was very awkward. Thats another problem breaking up with an ex and then seeing them again and forgeting why you broke up!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,659 ✭✭✭Shabadu

My last ex stalked me. Not in a fun, sexy way either. (!)

    Just followed me...

Years ago though. Been going out with my mister for eons now, we did break up for about half a week once, but twas merely silliness.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 775 ✭✭✭Evilution

and forgeting why you broke up!
Obviously didn't do it properly then :)
If I seen my last proper ex in the street, I'd just feel guilty because I treated her like $hit. Then I'd think "nah, fukk it, she deserved it" :D

There's actually quite a list, but the main reasons are:

    * He wasn't physically attractive to me. (I thought I'd ba able to just get by with personality, but alas that was somewhat lacking too.)
    * He was too much of a "yes man" agreed with everything I said, that's boring.
    * Didn't express any opinions of his own.
    * Was weak willed.
    * Was puny, not into sport or physical activity.
    * I don't like weak men.
    * He harassed me constantly via text/e-mail/messenger.
    * His "jokes" became tedious and irritating.
    * He was older than me yet acted like a child and was unable to conduct any kind of adult conversation. I can act the maggot along with the best of them, but I don't have to constantly look for attention by being "wacky" etc.

I actually should have broken up with him weeks before I did, but just wasn't bothered talking to him long enough to do it.

    :D

    Grr!

how did you start going out with him? just because he was interested? or was there anything you were attracted to in his character at all? you don't sound, Amz, as if you even though he was hot or hottish. he doesnt sound like a rugged rugby play at all.

    He wasn't ...

At first we got on quite well, admittedly I think it was a case of "distance makes the heart grow fonder", but when we actually spent more time in each other's company I found he had many things that irritated me. I'm sure I irritated him quite a bit, but he definitely had a vastly different view of the "relationship" than I had.

I've never actually gone out with a rugby player.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,487 ✭✭✭Kevin_rc_ie

so how long did tihs "relationship" last. well everyone irritates everyone else but that's what compromise is all about. doesnt' sound that you miss him so doesnt matter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,330 ✭✭✭✭Amz

Nah, he's a great source of amusment actually :)

It lasted too long Kevin, although not long by a lot of people's standards. I'm perfectly capable of compromise, but when there's nothing there worth compromising for then you're just wasting everyone's time.

crash_000 - i had a similiar experience with a girl i went out with for 3 years we broke up and stayed friends until she started going out with one of my best mates and neither of them told me. found out from another friend a month later. we'd been friends for years even went on holidays togheter, me and her and my friend and his girlfriend. but the last relationship tops that!

went out with a girl for 3 weeks during the summer, she was extremely clingy ringing and texting all the time, she told me she loved me after 3 weeks. i thought that was a bit quick. at the time i wasnt ready for all that again and didnt feel the same anyway so i finished it. well it all went downhill from there, constant calls from private numbers from her and her friends leaving messages on my voicemail begging me to meet up with her again(bear in mind this was a 27 year old woman! i was 25 then)i started not answering the phone if i didnt recgonize the number or if it was a private call. this went on for 8 months until about 3 weeks ago i got a message off her on the voicemail saying she had drank a bottle of vodka and taken a load of pills. so i changed my phone number. so be carefull people there are some wackos out there.

I broke up with my last gf over her affair with billy bob thornton. I was like 'Okay angelina, i can put up with the vial of his blood your wearing but the tattoo is a step too far! Its him or me!' The rest as they say, is history. :D

Stopped seeing the last girl I was with because of the age difference. Well not just the age difference.. our lives were too seperate. I'd just bought a gaff, she's in college and goes off travelling the whole time. Our friends couldn't interact. It's one thing seeing someone 8 years younger than you, but asking your friends to hang out with a load of kids is another thing. Also, occasionally she was a bit to 'childish' and sulky for my likeing.. Shame though, we had great sex!

    K.

I broke up with my last girlfried because she was annoying, disagreed with me for the sake of it, it was impossible to have a night out with her, without ending up like trailor trash and fighting in the middle of the street. When we were out for the night (just together) she insisted on talking to every randomer outside every pub for disgracefull amounts of time...but what took the biscuit was when i realised she was actually kind of hacked too...so i broke it off....we're on friendly terms and talk occasionaly :)
We were going out for about 6 months, and i don't miss her at all.

No, I don't miss her, the using fúck.

We broke up cos she was needy, childish, refused to live in the real world, was still living off Daddy at the age of 23, didn't understand that a difference of opinion about politics/religeon/whatever wasn't a personal row, was trying to change me without really understanding who I was in the first place and there was no way in hell I could have ever raised kids with her further down the road (strange criteria for a guy, I know, but you tend to think about these things when you're from a broken home yourself). Sex was mind-blowing though which is probably why we stayed together so long...

I'm sure she'd have a list of things just as long about me that drove her mad. T'was a mutual breakup (and tbh the only relationship I've ever been in where that was actually true).

We either grew apart or learned who each other really were, still we're pretty friendly now, meet up for drinks occasionally and get on quite well.

My one was one of those typical self-proclaimed nice guys you get in PI - not really nice but too afraid to assume any other way of being. He was too easy to shock, unimaginative, soppy and conventional. What a gimp!

Last girl I dumped was nice. That's pretty much it - nice. We got on really well and had a good laugh despite having very little in common, but there was just nothing really there for me, no spark or excitement. I kinda just drifted into going out with her at the time and when she started talking about moving in together, I knew that I'd let things go way too far.

it ended the way all of my relationships end... chick gets pissed off with me being so un forthcoming and quiet, so she makes up some bollocks about her not wanting anything serious/yadda yadda.
its fairly wack tbh. puts me off ever trying to start another relationship :(

what i really liked about her... her individuality. she really was one of a kind

Join the club. Well, she wasn't pissed. And it wasn't a party. And it was over a longer period of time.

I don't like talking to her.

Ah well. Life's so much better since we broke up. :)

I broke up with my last girl because she did the dirt on me.

Thing I miss most about her is her voice. Used to get me in a trance every time, no matter what she was saying ........ can still hear her tones in my mind every day.
