Just a small point does anyone else get the feeling that this thread stopped being the 'films you must see before you die' thread and started becoming the 'my favourite films #1073 thread' a long time ago?

For example (like Marts up there) 'The Breakfast Club' is one of my favourite films but I certainly didn't include it in my own list as it's not really a film of any curtural or artistic significance. Hense if you died never seeing it it probably wouldn't be such a big loss.

    Anyway ....

Nope, i excluded alot of my favourites to include films people should see before they die (12 angry men being imho a perfect example) ...
granted there should be more foreign films in there.. but im relativly ignorant of foreign films.. i could just add directors like bergman etc etc..but id be breaking the rules.!

its also an impossible list to make. the idea would be to make a list consisting of the best of every different genre of film .. but that'd be tough..and time consuming..unless you have an unbiased version of the imdb in your brain.

    Seven Samurai
    The Seventh Seal
    Jaws
    It's A Wonderful Life
    The Wizard Of Oz
    La Haine
    The Big Lebowski
The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
Night Of The Living Dead (original version)
    North By Northwest

Bloody hard just trying to pick ten must see films rather than your own top ten. Could have rattled off a list of 100 films with no great difficulty.

I tried to pick ten films that I regard as classic films that could be watched by a broad audience, rather than ten classics that would only appeal to a niche audience.

Is that the film starring Christopher Walken? Good stuff.

    I'd aggree with the following.

    1) The shawshank redemption
    2) One flew over the cuckoos nest
    3) Some like it hot
    4) Pulp fiction
    5) The green mile
    7) In the name of the Father
    8) My left foot
    9) ET
    10) Riding Giants (This one i would like to see on the big screen and no, its not a porno)

Surprised at the lack of irish/international films, most mentioned seem to be off the hollywood production line. I not critizing it, but it just goes to show who dictates the industry.

The very one. Has a good few well known actors in it too, David Caruso, Laurence Fishburne, Victor Argo, Wesley Snipes and Steve Buscemi.

Want to put Fight Club on me list too.
