Before you even think about getting a bag, make sure you have somewhere very solid to hang it from. I hang mine from a sturdy wooden beam in my garage but you should see who much the beam shakes when I hit the bag! It's not ideal. An alternative would be to get one of those metal punchbag brackets and mount it to a concrete wall, but obviously this will require drilling the wall.

Of course, the mounting problem is eliminated if you go for a free standing bag. I don't know much about them except that they're dearer than the normal bags, you'd be looking at 200-400 quid.

Anyhow Elvery's, JJB sports, Argos, Star, and VJ home fitness all do hanging punchbags. They are not pro quality or weight but will do you grand for the time being. IMO the Elvery's bags are overpriced for what they are. You might be better going for the 4ft Everlast bag from JJB. These are around 75 quid I think and are 30 kg which is plenty heavy enough for your needs.

Once you get the bag and mount it properly, DO NOT ATTEMPT to hit it without using hand wraps and bag gloves,. The wraps are very important, if you don't use them you could easily break your wrist with the first hard punch you throw at the bag. Wraps are cheap and there are guides on the internet showing you how to wrap your hands. Also, read up on how to punch with good technique

Make sure to get some hand wraps and bag gloves so you don't mess up your hands and wrists
