Writer of the top Marvel Comics title Captain Britain and renowned Doctor Who writer Paul Cornell will be signing at The Birmingham International Comics Show for both days.

Marvel's latest version of Captain Britain has proven incredibly popular, and bearing in mind the current storyline involving the Skrull invasion of Birmingham and other British landmark locations we think it's very fitting for the writer of that series to be making an appearance at the show.

Let's just hope he doesn't bring an army of marauding Skrulls with him ;)

Just to let people know Neil Gaiman is coming to Ireland to promote his new book, The Graveyard Book. Big fan of Gaiman, unlikely that I'll make it, but thought others might like to know about it.

News regarding Bristol 2009 for anyone who was thinking of heading over to either sell or buy next May. Below is an email that was sent out by Factor Fiction regarding the scaled down event for '09.

We've had a few people emailing us to ask what's happening with
Bristol, as we're one of the small pressers who have a table (Factor
Fiction), so I thought I'd update people.

Due to a mixture of circumstances Mike has had to scale back Bristol
for 2009, which is why the event will be only held in the Ramada. This
means there are limited tables available. In order to get a mix of
small press, manga, dealers and publishers, the tables are available
via invitation only at this time.

We were invited to book as we're long time Bristol supporters who have
    had a table since 2000.

I know Mike is very unhappy that he will be disappointing a lot of
people who would normally book tables, but is hoping to be back at the
    Engine Sheds in 2010.

Please feel free to pass this information on to anyone who is interested.

Tommie Kelly and I will be sharing a table, so call round to the small press area and say hi.

The Ulster Cycle: Ness will be available to buy as a book for (almost) the first time. I'll also have my 24 Hour Comic, Something, printed, and maybe, if I have enough toner left, some of my older small press work.

    See you all there!

Hey dudes, fresh from the Thought Bubble convention, myself and Phillip Barrett are sharing a small press table at the Dublin City Comic Con this weekend.

We'll both be hawking brand spanking new comics (him - "Matter presents: Weird Face" , me - "In The Aquarium"), along with new work from Katie Blackwood, old work from us all, and various prints/bits and pieces.

So hope to see a few of you in Smithfield over the weekend!

Just had an email about an upcoming Dublin Comic Jam upstairs in the Lord Edward pub on Dame street, Thursday 22nd January at 8pm. Bring your own pens and drawing instruments - paper is provided.

More info can be had from dublincomicjam(a)gmail.com. I'm not sure who's running this but the blog has some decent pages and every comic jam I've been to in the past has been fun so if you're in the area head along!

The Uk web and mini comic thing is on the 28th of this month [ie saturday week] There's quite a few boards folks exhibiting this year and a few more just hanging out for the day.

While the main Bristol show has been scaled back, Mallory of the Fallen Angel crew has stepped up to run a one day small press show - Small press expo - to run with the main scaled down Bristol show.

The london underground comics folks are having a one day [I think its just one day] show in June. Details on website.

Tables for Thought Bubble, the Leeds comics show, are now on sale for anyone interested in exhibiting in November.
