Post Weights Food Suggestions?

Anyone got any suggestions for food to eat after a weights workout session? I'm taking a protein shake within a half hour of finishing, but I need some solid food too. I know things like pasta and rice are recommended, but I don't have a cooker or microwave in work (and cold pasta isn't very appetising). So I'm looking for alternatives....

    Any suggestions?

Ideally you'd prepare the food the night before at home and take it with you. I presume you train in the morning...

If you get grill like a George Forman, it doesn't take very long to do some chicken or turkey breasts, minute steaks or salmon steaks. Low fat sausages and tuna salads for variety. Make sure its brown rice or pasta and cous cous is good as well as a carb side. Boiled veg is good as well.

All the above with good seasonings and sauce can be quite palatable as a cold meal.

One thing I like cold is Wholemeal pittas with chicken/turkey and low fat bbq sauce. Just toast the pittas, george foreman or fry the meat, and that's it - gorgeous when cold!

Note for all, it's important to replenish muscle glycogen post workout!

Best thing I found was blending pinhead oatmeal a bit of water/ice ,milk and a bit of whey protein in a blender and using that as the post workout drink- Blend it till its smooth and the oatmeal fill you right up and as its whole grain it will take care of any hunger for a good bit.

I've adjusted my training so that weights are done just after work (so I can go home and have a proper meal afterwards!). Appreciate the suggestions, though...

Will try that as pinhead oatmeal is sooooooooo low on the GI

    Nail on the head here.
Used the world over. YOu need to get this into you approx 20mins after training. Throw in a banana for more carbs

BTW - what blender do you use. I only got a crap one and it cant even blend a banana and milk smooth. How much?
Make model and price would be great!!
