Sticking Spoons in your nose

    That got ur attention!!

Ok I recently figured out that I am able to stick the entire handle of a teaspoon about 10cm basically into my face. Its not going up my nose its going straight back into my head. Basically if you can imagine someone facing you pointing there finger at your nose, that is the direction the spoon travels. Straight back into my head. Apparently we all can do it!!

Anywhoo, im getting loads of laughs out of it and shocking people as well, but Im just wondering where the hell is the spoon going? what is that cavity behind my nose. I dont say that cavity is where my brain should be!!

Of course people are saying "Stuey don't do that" , but what could happen?

That's your nasal cavity dumbass. Your nostrils go upward, but your nasal cavity actually goes directly backwards and meets up with the top of your throat.

Strangely enough, a mate of mine discovered *excatly* the same thing you're describing now.

Try sticking the spoon upwards into your nostril, it won't go.

You need to get out more, oh and the only part of your face that cutlery should go in is your mouth.

Any chance you could teach me this so I can take a spoon and use it to scoop all the phleghm out of my throat. This feckin cold I have has lasted over a week and all the cures known to man haven't shifted it. I reckon i could fill a whole jar full !

After you do it, your nose is actually very free and it is very easy to breath.

    You’re asking when/why etc

2 Sundays ago i was eating a yogurt and i was looking at the spoon, I was then reminded about a show on the discovery channel that i saw a while back. In it a chap did the trick and described how everybody can do it, you just need to get past the sneeze reaction, which normally takes about a week. So i cleaned the spoon went over to a mirror and began shoving and on the fourth go i got it.

Its a great party trick. I got a round of applause in the pav the other night!!

I saw that program on Discovery but I don't think I'll be trying it anytime soon. :D

How can you start a thread claiming to be able to stick spoons up your nose and not post a pic? I demand a picture of you with a spoon up your nose and holding up one of todays papers(for proof that you're not just using google images) before I'll give you the credit you deserve.

If this thread was just a ploy to get people to shove things in their nose... well played.

    Damn tootin!

A friend of mine was able to do this and he did it one day in secondry school in class. Needless to say the teacher was not impressed!

T'was funny though. He stuck the spoon into his face when nobody was looking and just turned around and proclaimed "Look, I fell on a spoon".

    I laughed*

    *Even if nobody else did

Yeah I can do it too! I found out after I'd seen the Jim Rose circus in the olympia. He said that anyone could do it but it takes about two weeks to get past your sneeze reflex. I know they say don't try this at home and all but I wanted to add something else to my list of freaky abilities cos I love freaking people out. And this spoon thing is great for it. I've gotten screams and people saying they were gonna be sick! I'll post a pic probably tomorrow cos I don't really have time right now.

Funny that you mention the Jim Rose circus. My mate thats able to do the spoon trick used to love that fella and his circus. Wanna see my mate now. Nearly completly covered in tatoos. So be warned! If you stick spoons into your face you might just end up covered in tatoos...

i saw this being done in secondary school, and was fascinated!!

then i built up the courage to stick a spoon in my nose, feels very strange the first time you do it!! but its a great one to freak people out!!

If I can get someone with a digital camera, Ill post it up here! Dunno how long it will be allowed for thow!!! LOL!! :D

( I can also swing from a horizontal pole to another 8.5 feet away!! [yes i measured, on my climbing frame in my backgarden], no one ive challenged could ever do it! And i don't even exercise nevermind gymnastics! Ill try get a pic in mid-air, actually that might make a cool desktop [ note to self: get picture of flying through air ] )
