On Sunday playing rugby I seperated my AC joint. Went had Xrays and a visit to the ortho, reckons it'll be 6-8 weeks before I play again - anyone else done this joint in the past and how long before you were back to training/cycling/etc???
It's feeling a bit better day on day but it's still weak and gets tired if it's out of the sling for too long...
Any advice for a quicker recovery would be well appreciated
    Cheers
    Kenmc

What rehab work are you doing on it?
Should be lots of rotator cuff and get regular massage once inflamation has gone down

none yet, just happened 5 days ago. was supposed to go to the physio tomorrow but the orthopedic specialist said not to go for 2 weeks :(
wouldn't be able to do any work on it at the moment anyway....

I did my AC in judo just before christmas and it was a grade 2 AC injury, not serious at all. Took me the bones of 5 weeks to get better and about 6 for the pain to cease.

I would as with the majority of injuries following RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). Just rest it and ice it and when you can begin to do front raises with a bottle of water to keep the shoulder ticking over. Just a few points i thought id make. Hope you have a speedy recovery my man.

yeah mine is a grade 2 as well... looks funny on the web when you see how it all goes together in there - loads of ligaments joining bones together. wierd. hopefully it'll get better soon.... gonna get very fat otherwise.... :o(
