Loud. Oh so very very loud. Absolutely gorgeous. My ears are still ringing. Jamming session tonight with a new drum kit :D

I like it. There's a couple of annoying things but you learn to deal with them and get round them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

yeah like the gt-6 its great n all but it does lack the versatility of the single pedals..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Nice, you got it. Lovely guitars. Not as fast as I would like but I imagine one adjusts quite quickly. How are you findsing the neck/fret size?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

The neck is perfect. Absolutely spot on for my hand. Fret work is lovely, inlay is lovely, pickups are lovely, finish is lovely. It's a fantastic guitar, especially for €450 shipped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

the neck is a lovely piece of work. Could play it for hours on end and not feel it. The frets are a little small for my hands but I imagine I'd adjust quite quickly. Mahogany body too, so it has that lovely deep, rich, warm tone. :)

Metallica clean tones are so easy to get. Me likes. The neck joint is absolutely crazy. Gotta bring it and my other gear (Fender and teh ME-50) down to a drummer's later. Let's see how all this gear handles on 11 :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I love the neck joint. I was playing one and I went up the neck and the first thing I thought was, "It can't be neck-through for this price!" Then I examined it and just found it was the cleanest, nicest set-neck ever. :) The distorted sound isn't as nice as the cleans as far as I'm concerned. I likes my OD crunchy as hell and it was a little smooth for my liking. I'm sure my BIg Muff could take care of that though. :)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Through my ME-50 and Fender, my balls were rumbling. I smiled.

I had a band appear in my house about an hour after I got it and they were all admiring it. I think I may be moving away from EMG's but I'm not too sure...

Heh. Nice one. What's next on the list then Feylya? Chris still hasn't emailed me about the JB, and I've re-sent it once. I don't want to have to do it again. Guess it gives me time to think about it anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

    Gah!

There's an SG with an Ebony board. The Ibanez is going in the Buy and Sell sharpish. It even has a JB and a '59! Sell the little MG and the Ibanez and I should be sorted. Only E575!

IMPORTANT - YOUR EMAIL IS LOST – if you are wating on a response from your recent inquiry, especially from the last several days, please resend. My Outlook Express has a problem and all email from the past 3 weeks has disappeared. Even now, any time I do a send/receive, it sends the mail but incoming mail goes…somewhere….but I can’t find it. If you have any tips on how to fix, please let me know. In the meantime, I’ll be doing email straight off the server. Sorry for the problem; I hope it’s temporary.
Looks like you'll have to resend again.

Feylya, did you have any credit card trouble with thomann this time?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I went with GuitarBargains.com and got my guitar DELIVERED for about €70 less than Thomanns price without delivery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Nice! What do you think of the suped-up SG I'm looking at. The Ibanez is going in the Buy and Sell as soon as I can get a setup job done on it. :D

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Link me to it.

When I got the SZ, it was in a Brian Moore box and it was perfectly in tune. I would have prefered if they had loosened the strings for shipping but still, it was impressive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

    'Tis in meh sig.

That's pretty damn impressive alright. :) Hopefully Chris will do me a few favours as regards what value he puts on the guitar for the benefit of the nice people at customs and VAT. :)

Was never the biggest fan of SG's tbh. Only really like The Grynch. I think it'd look better with a black body but that's just me. How much is he looking for it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I love their bite and low end. It would look better in brown or black but hey, can't have it all, especially not for E575. That including an ebony board, those cool crescent moon inlays and a whole load of Seymour Duncan upgrades. :D

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

That's a damn fine price alright. I'd love a Les Paul. Nothing quite like the chunk out of it.

The pickups in this SZ are fantastic. I mean, really really good. Prefer them over my EMGs I think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Wow. Who'll replace you as EMG's chief advocate around here?! :p They're nice alright, especially for stock pickups. The Les Paul doesn't have the same kick and bite as the SG. I think that's why I've been so undecided. Nothing has that range from mean bastard low end growl to squealing kick in the balls high end that the SG has.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

No no, I'm keeping my EMG's in my LTD and probably putting some in the 7 string if I ever get €200 together. But the passives with the fixed bridge and fixed neck just rock :)

I dont like EMG's. What ibanez pickups are in the SZ? Stock ibanez p-ups tend to be pretty good. I got a SD duncan custom bridge p-up yesterday and its really really nice

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

They're Duncan/Ibanez ones. I'll have to do some research to see what SD's they're modelled from.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I thought they were just normal Ibanez ones? Go figure. Ibanez stock pickups aren't great as a rule. The Powersounds in my RG suck. Roll on my SG with the Duncans. :D

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

No, Ibanez don't do they're own in the higher end models. They did have a DiMarzio designed pickup range but I think they've moved to Duncan now. The V7 and V8 pickups in the RG570 and RG1570 are damn nice imo.

I thought the 520 had Ibanez ones though. Oh well, learn something new every day. I like that SG though. I've e-mailed Chris asking to reserve it for me so fingers crossed. :)

Oh by the way Dave, I talked to your man, he's not interested in selling the Vibratrem.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Hmmm, might try and get some samples recorded soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Nice. Meh own stuff is coming along well. I'll soon be recording some of it on minidisc and sending it to a friend to have lyrics put to it. The SG and its ebony board should make it sound like a dream though. :)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I turned the Fender up the other day. It completely drowned out my mate playing the bass drum as loud as he could. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭david

Nice! How much are those fender loudeners? I'm either gettin one of those are a 212 peavey valve amp on ebay.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Eh, I think I paid €280 for it. It does exactly what it says on the tin.

I take it the jam session went well then? :)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Never happened actually. Certain people were in certain states before I left the house so I just didn't bother. And I was...distracted :p

Should be jamming with a new band tonight but I'm too wrecked to even think about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I need a band. Why is it when you reply to people advertising for musicians you never hear from them again?! As it is I think it'll be case of sending minidiscs of my work to a lyricist in Wexford. I'll wait until I get the new guitar to record it though because it'll sound much better. Need new batteries for the noise suppressor too actually. That'll make a big difference to the sound of it.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Woke up Friday morning with two different people looking for me to jam.

    Life is good.
    Play More.
    Ibanez.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Heheh. Quite the slogan. Copyright it and sell it to them. :p Nobody wants to jam with me. I should probably see some significance in that...

I think that already is a slogan anyway...

Learn to play better. Simple :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

I'm working on it. My new stuff is quite teh shpeedy. :)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Speed != good. Always remember that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

    Tell it to Slayer. :p

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Not a fan of Slayer at all at all. It just bores me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

 I loves Slayer. Seeing them in the Ambassador in June. My own stuff tends to be somewhat more melodic though. Not a very hard thing to do. :p

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Open E as fast as you can, ADD SOME RANDOM NOTES, open E as fast as you can, SCREAM!

Sorry, but that's generally what I hear when I listen to Slayer. They have a couple of songs I like but on the whole, not a fan. Horses for courses though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Nice definition. :p Yeah, hardly the most imaginative guitar work I've ever heard, and about as technically skilled as a sledgehammer, but very fast and fun. :) Have to say though, Dave Lombardo is some drummer.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    That he is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Yeah, going to anything in the near future yourself?
