there are many types of broadband

    adsl uses phone lines

cable (ntl) uses ntl's fibre network

    wireless (IBB) uses wireless towers.

my best advice would be to ring the companies involved eg eircom, iol and utv for adsl or ntl for cable (1800234234) or IBB for wireless.

There's a list which is kept up to date here in the IrelandOffline forum for all DSL enabled exchanges.
