Again, prob too espensive. I ordered one from bb.com. I think it was $19 for the electronic calipers and a handy measuring tape thing (don't need someone else to measure chest etc...)

Anyways, calipers are a waste of time. People get them, think they're 10%bf and are chuffed when in fact they're near 20%. If you want an accurate measurement, take a hydrostatic bodyfat test. Otherwise just go by the mirror, it's more accurate...

Anecdotally, I came up as 6.4% bf on calipers when I was 14% hydrostatically - not bad if you know what a genuine 14% is. I now have abs showing but just about, so I'm around 12%, but calipers are gibing 5% or so... If I'd 5% bf, I wouldn't need to diet.

Whilst not as accurate as hydrostatic Manual body fat callipers can be reasonably accurate. If you take a number of measurements of the same spot and get the average it serves as a good indicator. For somebody who wants to track their progress themselves they're useful. I accept your point though that they're bloody expensive in Workout world compared to buying them online. Eu 29 as opposed to around USD 20 online.

What matter most is the person who is testing!!!

I have used the fat track body fat calipers for the past 4 years and have found them extremely accurate but i have a lot of experience testing the scores on various body types.

Also, overall body fat is nice to have but again inaccurate as when the original testing for body fat levels were done by Jackson and Pollack they had to remove body fat from cadavers using medical students!! Now how many medical students do you know who are going to be meticulous about this process.

Solution - measure the individual sites (men - chest, stomach and thighs or more if you want) and retest regualrly.

Finally, hydrostatic measurements!!! Please keep it simple
