AGP Support on n-force4 Motherboards

I've been shopping around for a new motherboard since my own appears to be on it's last legs. I haven't been able to find a single n-force4 chipset motherboard with an AGP slot. I find it rather odd that most of the major manufacturers would choose to only suppose PCI-Express when the vast majority of GFX cards in use are still AGP.

Does the n-force 4 chipset even support AGP?

I think one or two manufacturers have bridge chipsets that let you put an AGP card on an nForce 4 board. It's beyond me why you want nForce 4 if youre only using AGP though...... Wouldnt an nforce 3 Ultra board be equally good ? Check out the epox 9nda3+. Rock solid board thats also a good overclcoker

The whole point of the nforce 4 chipset is that it supports pci-e and sli!

First chipset to do so for amd 939. If you don't like it dont buy it :-)

have a look at the abit 3rd eye if you want amd64 with agp:

great mobo and the 3rd eye is a very nifty dealy.

Upgrading is a costly process, I would prefer to be able to upgrade the mobo and cpu, and come back for a gfx card upgrade at a later stage when my current one doesn't cut it anymore.

The nForce4 was designed with PCI Express. However, at this time its not possible for AGP and PCIe to co-exist on the same board, hence why no nForce4 boards have AGP.

SiS have apparently come up with a way of co-existing PCIe and AGP but I haven't seen it.

I'm in the same boat. I went from an older amd xp box to a socket 939 box. I went nforce 3 to get some use out of my old agp card.

Plan on getting a new card in a few months after the next gen stuff comes out and prices fall a bit on this gens stuff.

So your choices are either (a) get a soc 939 with agp or
(b)wait long enough till you can afford new box + gfx at same time.

Why do you want nforce 4?
