i've noticed a few people on other forums looking for guitar tabs that arn't available online, but that i know how to play.
thing is, i can't tab! so can't let them know how it's correctly played.

what sort of software is out there for this kind of thing?

Guitar Pro 4 is what I use. try it out. It's cool. http://www.guitar-pro.com
I also use Reason 2.5 but that will set you back a few hundred, and its not really made for guitar tablature.

ta. i was actually looking for something a little simpler, but this will do. will be a bit of a challenge getting to grips with it at least.

Just downloaded Powertab. Is there any site on the net for .ptb files, like there are on mysongbook.com for guitar pro files?

Yep, here http://www.powertabs.net/ and here http://www.powertab-central.net/

I prefer Guitar Pro tbh. I find it easier to use... nicer user interface. But it's good to have both of them. More tabs :)

Guitar Pro can export to ascii and bmp. Power tab can export to ascii and html. Power tab does more detailed tabs.
