    Lads
I play soccer on Wednesday evenings, inter-firms. 25 minute a-side.

Now what would you suggest I eat during the day, I have my dinner about 1pm
Then I get home from work about 6.30pm or so. We have been playing at 8pm for the last few weeks but this could change to 7pm or 9pm or 10pm.

So what do you suggest I might eat for energy without killing me??

    cheers

I rugby train tues and thurs at 7pm. Around 4:30 or so I have one of those 2 minute microwave in the bag rice things (loadsa different flavours - my fav is the mexican one) with a small tin of tuna. sometimes add a small tin of sweetcorn as well. keeps me going for the cycle home, and all through rugger training. Will then usually eat the spag bol provided by the club..

i wouldn't eat anything packaged that takes 2 minutes in a microwave. If you cook rice normally you get more benefit from it.

-Pasta and chicken is a good one, no less than 3 hrs before exercise.
    - A banana or a bar of chocolate 1/2 an hour ahead.
    - Plenty of fluid but not too much directly before exercise.
    - Make sure to eat 20 mins after game, even a banana or the likes.

"A banana or a bar of chocolate 1/2 an hour ahead."

That is what I have been doing, about 1.5 hr before I have 2 bananas and a bar of choclate.
I have a brutally low metobolism rate, takes me years to break down food.

don't have the facilities in work to cook unfortunately - just nuke... hence the rice. tastes ok though, and the fat content is low, so it'll do.
