Just thought I'd throw something out there.

How about the posters on this forum all agree to meet up sometime in the not too distant future. We can train, explain a bit of our philosophy in person, and answer Q&A. It would almost be like the ultimate in Cross Training.

    What do you guys think?

    Take Care,
    Colm

my gym is available almost every saturday and sunday if you're stuck for somewhere to hold this :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,693 ✭✭✭pma-ire

    Sounds cool!

Only thing is i won't be able to get to Dublin (or anywhere to far away) any time soon :(

Anytime anyones in Cork and I'm free, I'll gladly do a training session with them.

Sometimes I can be in the jobs head office in dublin airport. And we are put up in the Skylon in Drumcondra?

Are any of you around there?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,639 ✭✭✭john kavanagh

the 16 or 16A from the airport will leave you right outside my gym

    email sbgireland@gmail.com next time you're up :)

I will attend if at all possible. Great idea Mod !!!

If Im back from my travels then Im very much in!

I think a good cross training session would do a lot of good.

So all you boxers, thai-boxers, kickboxers, tkd-ers, karateka, judoka, ninja, aikidoka, ju-jitsuka, FMA peeps and various style Chinese martial artists come along and give it a shot!

My place is down the road from there (and around a few corners but...).
So sod the 16A if you're ever down I'll give a lift.

Colm, sounds like a great idea. Dare I suggest the Matt Thornton seminar as a possible?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,693 ✭✭✭pma-ire

    Thanks John and Roper!

    Colm,

You should try to aim for a future date to try to pull this off that as many as possible can get to? I am still thinking of having a mixed style sem in Cork at the end of August.

I might not now get all the PMA guys over. But that would'int bother me. I really just want to create a frendly (REAL) forum for all styles of combat to come together and get on. And really learn form eachother.

I recommend that everyone go to it, its great fun but I think that the "gettogether" should be free, open time wise and flexible with what we learn/teach!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,448 ✭✭✭Roper

Depending on the day, I could also offer my place which is on the Nortsoide!
Yeah you're right Colum it should be free. Some people are stingey :D

In any case I think it's a great idea and I'm sure it'd be a fun day. Personally, I'd like to see and learn some wrasslin! Kata training and stuff doesn't interest me as such but I'd be interested to see some of the approaches people here take in the flesh and maybe debate it face to face.

    Let's do it!

maybe we should decide on a date and get an anouncement like they have for boardstock 2

Well we need people to commit to it first but thats defo a good idea! We can all wear name tags at it so people can put handles to faces!

So come on peeps- who'll go?

Bambi, pearsquasher, Phoenix, Lemming, memphis, Mear, dent, briano, petals, Coupe, Im2Lazy, Musashi, Millionaire and so many more.

Come on ladies and gentlemen what do you have to lose?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,693 ✭✭✭pma-ire

It would'int be a bad idea to work towards a date.

It would have to be a little further away so that the most of us can work around it!

As well as it being a free session and that we want to try and have as much time as possible together ;) I recomend a weekend Sat or Sun. Even better would be a bank hol weekend so we won't be using work hols. We could have one or two days (With a trip into the live environment ie. local public houses and nite clubs :D)

    So keeping that in mind...

The next bank hol in ireland is 2nd of May. This way someone could travel up on a Sat stay in someones gaff (if ok with the person living there ofcousre :D) we have our session on the Sun, go for a meal (to line the stomach, then we have our other session ;) )

I know the date is a little bit away but I know for myself that I have to plan things like this well ahead so the wife and the job don't get upset

    So what do ye think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,995 ✭✭✭Tim_Murphy

Cool idea!! (Could have sworn I suggested something similar yesterday!)

I would be up for it anyway, want to learn some cool ninja moves.

I heartily endorse this product or event. Dependant of date/venue and ninja volume, of course

Boo hiss to May 2nd lads, for me anyway. I'll be sitting watching my wifes belly that weekend waiting on a *POP*!
Tim, if you want people to take you seriously, you have to START a topic! That way it looks like your idea even when it's not.

I suggest a Sunday. For a few reasons,
    1. I teach Saturdays!!
    2. A lot of people train Saturdays.
    3. If people are travelling, you probably wouldn't want it to be on a Bank Holiday weekend.
    4. It's a day of worship, and if we're doing Kata with religious conotations, we may as well go all the way............

Really good idea Colm, sounds like it'd be really interesting.

p.s Good luck for the fight in March.

for the same reasons i'm going nowhere until my wife *pops*

but this is what we need to work out!!

Sorry for going off topic but my god we're a fertile lot,
PMA-IRE, Roper & me all expecting kids in May mine's due 30th.

Good luck guys cos if you're like me you'll need it !

I think we can rule out May for that reason, plus I think Coupe & Millionaire will be going away in May (if they decide they're interested in going) .

Ours is due on 22nd of March. Thats why I put out the May date. We have a 3 yr old who will be 4 in May and a 2 yr old who will be 3 in April.

It must be the testosterone?? (and the bald head in my case :D)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,693 ✭✭✭pma-ire

I'm down for a trip to the UK in June? around the first week!

What dates are you think of?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,398 ✭✭✭columok

Maybe the 2nd last or last sunday in June then?

Should give everyone a chance to recover from all those popped sprogs!

We could run 2? Maybe one fairly soon aswell?

April and May are out for me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,799 ✭✭✭Clive

June is better as it gives filthy students a chance to have a wash after their exams.

I'll be there if there's booze!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

June sounds good. May doesn't suit me, I've got college exams then.

Great to see an interest in this!

I was going to suggest March, but I suppose not everyone can arrange something that quickly.

June sounds good! What about the bank holiday weekend?

Message to all those lurkers! Come on! Post your views on this thread!

June does seem a bit out.
Hows about one soon and then another when those scabby students decide my tax money can pay for their bus fare to the venue.

    Get a job!

Well the whole point is to train together, so that would be a no go.

Who could make Sat 19th March? Show of hands please

We could each do a 40 minute segment.

So let's get the KMers, the Ninjas, the MMAers, the PTKDers and anyone else who wants to hop in and give it a shot!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 779 ✭✭✭Flashling

Alright...first time posting here, but I would love to go, depending on, you know, actually being wanted. Spenguin the old HSD mod. would come too.

I just realised how needy that sounded. Damn.
