    The Wonder Years
    Alf
    Family Ties
    Super Gran
    Bosco
    Denver The Last Dinosaur
    Cockleshell Bay

On the plus side, I'm glad to see the A*Teem and Inspector Gadget making a comeback.

Why don't they make programmes like these anymore?

Ah, how could I forget the Littlest Hobo. It was running the odd time on some obscure channel on Sky recently, possibly LifeTV. Ulysses31 is run late night on Fox Kids aka Jetix.

As for Mr Benn, wasn't there a programme with a kid who had a friendly bear called Benn or something?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 36,634 ✭✭✭✭Ruu_Old

Meant to watch the Wonder Years, missed it yesterday, was gonna watch it after Happy Days (where Richie and the Fonz joined the army) so funny, but forgot about it!

Mysterious Cities of Gold or Dogtanian are my biggest wishes.

Also i noticed on Bravo over the weekend they are showing a really old spiderman cartoon, like really ancient i believe, anyone clarify? :)

Think most of the shows I would mention are already on various satellite channels.

    Wonder Years
    Quantum Leap

Wouldnt mind seeing Manimal or Automan or maybe Streethawk again - Streethawk seems the only one of the Knight Rider, Airwolf, type shows that was never repeated.

Twin Peaks as well, have series 1 but still no sign of series 2, so would love to see that again.

Forgot about "Hunter" - always used to watch that, wonder what "McCall" is doing now :-)

Used to like some of those children's dramas that were on like "Children of the Dogstar" and stuff like that, oh and as I dont think anyone else has mentioned it...

Indeed Pigman must have the "Square eyes" that I suspect many of us were threatened with !

I reckon I've watched nealy all those shows, recognise some of the names as well but cant place the program.

AlisonB just reminded me of the Raggy Dolls as well.

Johnny Briggs eh ? Remember an episode where he had to look after the school rabbit or something, of course it led to the usual rabbit gets lost\dies drama, but wasnt a bad show.

There was a show on ITV called "Dodger, Bonzo and the Gang" or something that I vaguely remember watching, think it was sort of an orphanage or foster home type situation.

    wizbit
    three's company & the ropers
the twilight zones shown in the 80's (not the very early or recent ones)
    alfred hitchcock presents
    tales of the unexpected

not a repeat but a show with all live preformances from the 80's & 90's sort of like top of the pops 2 but with live acts on "the word" or "the tube"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,352 ✭✭✭Phibsboro

I guess this is all about what age we all are :)

Most of my favs have already been mentioned (love to see an episode of alf again!), but the one thing that stands out in my mind is a bbc kids series called Tomorrow's People (i think - maybe Tomorrow's Children?). It was about a group of kids in the future - I think they had the ability to time travel. All very fuzzy memories I'm afraid, but I do recall eagerly anticiapting the next episode.

One other thing - despite the nostalgia for these things, I normally find that when I actually see an old tv series again it is somehow less than it was - the picture quality is usually bad, the writing a bit clunky etc :) - A large dose of rose tinted glasses would seem to be involved. The one thing that does amaze me when seen now is Porridge - I watched that one where they discussed "what they were going to do on a Saturday night" recently and it was suberb - like a two hander play really, amazingly daring for a prime time sitcom.

    Cheers,
    C
