    Hey,
just started taking the gym seriously and am heading twice a week now. Also doing sit ups and dumbells at home.

Any advice on the best machines/excercies to get organise a pattern around for the chest and beer gut to even out ??

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Also has anyone got any ideas on the ideal weight for someone 5'8" ???
Rough guides are very vague so I'm guessing its somewhere in the middle of the 30lb approx weight most sites give.

The ideal weight is the weight where you're happy with yourself. Seriously. BMI can give a very rough estimate, but many men, even of normal build, can find themselves struggling to get below the upper limit of "normal" weight.

Seriously, if you're happy with the amount of weight you have on yourself, and you're not training for anything in particular, then's there's no real need to get to a particular weight.

This question has been answered soooo many times before - have a look at any of the old posts for detailed info.
It will all come down to
    1. Eat unprocessed food (whole grains etc) and cut out the junk e.g white bread, kellogs cereals, sweets, soft drinks, dried pasta etc
    2. Train regularly - 30mins of aerobic exercise 3-4 days per week, weights 2-3 days per week - balanced program emphasising major muscle groups
    3. NEVER GIVE UP - become the change you want to see

They do? And I would have always put myself in the 'broad' category.

Anyway, the ideal weight is the way you think looks good. Forget the scales, what do you think you look like?
