Crikey, I feel really old because I remember dancing to some of the above songs at discos! Anyway, "Yellow River" by Christie was number 1 and "Bridge over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel " was the number one album when I was born! I feel sorry for my younger brother as "Do you really want to hurt me" by Culture Club was number 1 when he was born. At the time I was only 12 and though Boy George was so cool and nobody mentioned words like "Gay" or "puff" then. However, mum said if he was a meant to be a man (she wouldn't believe me when i said he was), then he must be some find of freak!

I find it really scary reading through this thread that I remember when a lot of the songs mentioned were actually in the charts. Why? Cos when I was born, Peters & Lee - Welcome Home was No 1.
