Never watched Perfect Blue - heard its slightly mind bending :)

Yeah for the NGE and yeah for choosing Cd-Wow!

    Possibly look into getting Trigun...

Add the Cowboy Bebop series to that list. Great final ep. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've heard good things.

    The films of Hayao Miyazaki.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

I tend to watch series more than films.
If you're gonna go for any series I'd recommend
    Trigun
    Berserk
Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex
    FLCL

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,573 ✭✭✭Infini

You should add Zone of the enders - Dolores,I and Z.O.E. 2167 Idolo to that as well. Also RahXephon is also a good series to add as well.

    The Original D is awful.
Bloodlust is much better, good soundtrack too.

Knockin on Heavens door wasn't nearly as good as the series though...

Don't forget Serial Experiments in Lain, and Haibane Renmei--also did anyone mention Love Hina?

    *shudder*

    I hope not.

Plot summary of every Love Hina episode:

OMG Girls! - You Pervert! - *Punch in the Face* - Sappy "serious" moment.

    The dead horse is mush! make the bad man stop ;_;

I was, however, a big fan of Lain, and Haibane Renme kept me interested.

Samurai Champloo is a great fansub.

Recently got Rurouni Kenshin and Gungrave but can't comment on them till I watch them.

I highly recommend these anime films (Ninja Scroll, Street Fighter 2, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, and Princess Mononoke) as well

movie wise, Akira is a classic must have... so is Grave of the Fireflies... any film by miyazaki is good. oh, and Ghost in the Shell 1 and Ghost in the Shell 2: innnocence are *awesome*

    series:
    Full Metal Panic
    Full Metal Alchemist (angsty)
    Saiyuki
Yami No Matsuei (Descendents of Darkness)
Hellsing (a very gory ish must have)

    Trigun
Gungrave (by the same guy who made Trigun)
    Wolf's Rain
    Naruto
    Escaflowne
DNAngels (i can't quite remember if that's right)
    Angel Sanctuary (rather twisted tho)
Get Backers ( i personally haven't seen it, but it's been recommended)

Witch Hunter Robin (a definite must see)
Noire (girls and guns.. that's all i have to say)
Bubblegum crisis (girls and tight mecha suits)

anyways, these are all excellent series that i definately recommend. ^_~

    - Saint Seiya
    - The Fist of The Northstar
    - Record of Lodoss War
    - Escaflowne
otherwise I can confirm whats above, and if you want to read a cool manga try: Bastard! by kAzushi Hagiwara

For a messed up story with some good action, you can't go wrong with Spriggan.

perfect blue, ghost in the shell 1 ,and 2.perfect blue is a more intellectual anime ,not full of action or robot mechs ,its got a more realistic story than sumthing like appleseed.i prefer to rent dvds from laser video rather than try and buy everthing cos theres loadsa dvds coming out ,its not necessary to buy them all.

    Uhh..Movies, I'd say...
    Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust,
    Grave of the Fireflies,
    Spirited away,
    Princess Mononoke,
The Evangelion movies and maybe some clamp stuff...

    For Anime...
    Full Metal Alchemist,
    Excel Saga,
    Chobits,
    Puni Puni Poemi,
Dragon half (Isn't there only two eppisodes...?)
Evangelion Series... I haven't seen all the eppisodes though. Is there some shonen-ai stuff going on sometime in that series?
    Martian Successor Nadisco,
    DBZ,
    One Piece,
    Rave Master,
    Pita-ten,
    Kodocha,
Maybe Tokyo Mew Mew if you're into the magical girl stuff...

I have seen some funny prievews Anime...In japanese, though...
Panda-Z... Some weird Panda in a giant panda robot fighting cute evil animals,
Gunslinger girl... A bunch of little girls with guns killing people... That looks so pointless to me.
And that Anime with the frogs... What's it called? SGT Frog? I'm not sure, I forget. Oh well...

Typical, but I got to say...

    Akira.
    Ghost In The Shell.
    Perfect Blue.
    Spirited Away.

Nothing obscure there, but still good.

thats what i want to hear !!!!

    - Clamp X (watch the serie before you watch the movie, it will spoil the entire serie)
    - weiß Kreuz Glühen (better than the original serie in terms of design and animation)
    - Gensoumaden Saiyuki (season 1 and 2 and the manga, Reload was pretty bad in my opinion, bad design compare to the first 2 series)
    - Eva (coz you have to watch it :D )
    - One Piece (Kaizoku-Fansubs Rocks!!!!!!!!!!! As well as Luffy and CHopper!!!!! :D)
    - Fullmetal Alchemist (don't express an opinion before you get to more than around 10 episodes, that's when it starts to get even better ... heavenly! )
    - Saint Seiya (it is my childhood all over again :D)
    - Get Backers
    - Furi Kuri (completely outta control/guitar smashing/total freak bitch :D)
    - GTO (because Onizuka is the teacher that we all dreamt of having some day)
    - Abenobashi Shopping Street (because like Furi Kuri it is completely crazy!)
    - Fruit Basket (watch the anime, scratch the last episode from your head when you finish and read get your hands on the manga for the rest)

So much more but too tired to continue ;)

    Ninja Scroll
    Vampire Hunter D
Grave of the Fireflies (if you don't cry at this you have no soul)
    Princess Mononoke

...Basically any Miazaki thing you can get your hands on
    Read Or Die OVA
    Macross Zero

Serial Experiments Lain (ONLY if you like your head f*cked)`
    Spriggan
    Tokyo Godfathers

    is AD police any good?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,071 ✭✭✭Art_Wolf

Heh cant actually recall the last time i've watched it :)

I'm assuming you mean the movie/OVA AD Police (the prequel to the very good Bubblegum Crisis)

There is also the spinoff AD Police but never seen it.

    Personally I really like the Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 - a remake of the origional Bubblegum Crisis...wow hadnt reallised how much anime was based in that world till now ^_^;;
