Champo Manager - Finest Hour?

I was just wondering what peoples proudest moment ever was as a champo manager? The type of moment that just brought a tear to your eye? :p

The reason i ask is cause im currently Barnet in champo 03/04, after running away with the conference last season (wow! big achievement!) , im now in a title race for the third, but when my heap of poo goalkeeper goes way out of position, and all four of my defenders chase the guy on the wing, midfielders wont track back no matter what i do, and six dag&redbridge players stand un-marked in the box, what makes it all worth while is the prospect of some day getting barnet to lift the champo league trophy!

What was your finest hour against the odds? proudest moment of making your minnows into champions? Or even when things went horribly wrong...like from wining champions league 1 season, being relegated the next or somethin??

Champ 99/00 leading Monaco to the Treble, winning League Cup and champ league in a landslide 3-1 defeat of Real Madrid, two goals from unknown Argentinian Saviola and a great dribbling run from Giuly

My Celtic team in champo 00/01 was ridiculous and went unbeaten in the league for two seasons, picking up Champ league twice

I supose it was the season where I started off winning all domestic competitions with Bohs(except the League Cup I lost in the final) and reaching the quarter finals of the Champs League , where I left for Cardiff before I played the quarters .(they got stuffed without me) , I moved on to Cardiff , who had 2 points from 11 games , way adrift of staying up , not only did I stay up , but I managed to come 16 , only missing out on 14th on goals scored(if only Villa and Wolves didn't score those late goals) , I also brought in some tremendous players on a shoestring budget .

This was 03/04 I think .(the Cradiff board were resiigned to relegation when I joined too , making it even more memorable .)

and the fact I wasn't technically safe until the final whistle of the last game .

probably scarborough winning the european cup in championship manager 95

more recently though, there was one game which particularly stood out during my time at shels in cm 4

Fluking my way to winning the champions league with Shels in cm 03/04. You have never seen so many lucky draws, last minute goals and away goal wins! Scraped into the 2nd phase with a last minute win in my last game. I didnt win after that - got through with 6 draws in the 2nd phase, then away goal wins in qtr/semi final (0-0's at home, 1-1's away) and then finally a penalty shoot-out win in the final after 0-0 draw and extra time !

Next season took a job with Leeds (start of december) as i was sick of the shels board not giving allowing me to pay decent wages (over £1000) - they were bottom and deep in debt (prophetic really), won the league with them going unbeaten from when i took over! Unfortunately during the close season i suffered a save game corruption which pissed me off no end....

In Championship Manager 03/04. started off with Brighton. First season got promotion from the 2nd division via the playoffs. In my second season won the first straightout. Struggled in the Premiership for a few years, all the time building my squad and eventually got through to the Uefa cup getting knocked in the quarters but finished in a Champions League position. The next I won the Premiership and Champions League beating Chelsea in the final.

After coming 2nd in the premiership 2 years in a row with Bradford City (and in the progress winning the Champions league!), finally won the premiership on my 4th year in charge. Winning it on the last day by beating West Ham 2-0.(can't remember if it was home or away).

Going into the final match West Ham were on the same points as us, and Middlesborugh were one point behind.

That season started off very badly, knocked out of domestic and european competitions early.

So quit Bradford a few weeks after the win, and went to 1st division Southampton.

gadget fiend, fair play on beating barca 4-0 with shels. its not like you even have big name players. fair ****s. i won 11 major trophies with man utd in 4 yrs. including 4 premierships, 3 champs leagues and 3 FA cups. I was quite pleased with that.
In cm 01-02 i had a ridiculously good celtic team too. i remember my starting strikeforce was owen and shevchenko. won the champions league with them twice too. ive never really managed any real success with a lower league team. might just try that....

Think my proudest moment would have to be taking St Pats on an epic journey to the Champions league semi-finals in CM4, beating Arsenal in the quarters, before losing to Chelsea. Charles Mbabazi Livingstone scored 47 goals in 50 games that season. We walked the league for years after cos of the prize money. Happy Days....

Best moment is definitely in CM 03/04. Was offered the Fiorentina job about 5 games into the season when they were in the bottom 3 of Serie B. Finished second in the division and in the first season up in Serie A won the league and cup double. Went on to win the league for the next two seasons and another 4 times with Roma, but that first double was the best.

going back a while here to cm 97/98 - brought exeter city to the dizzy heights of european cup victory along with the trebble (in the domestic league) and won the world cup all in the same year.

    job well done i think!

p.s. i cheated, but finest moment none the less!

in 00-01 bringng athlone town to the champions league semi's, signing Weah, leonardo and batistuita on free's on the way (the were all 33+). I went on to take charge of Swansea who were in the english 2nd division, i got them to the premiership, after a few seasons mid table i signed Zlatan and Kaka, won the league, signed sonk, frey and ambrosini, won champions league, left them in october the following year and took over A.C. Milan who were sitting 14th in the league, finished in champions league posistion, got to simis next season and won league, managed ireland to a world cup, managed millwall to an fa cup and got sunderland into the champions league (Piper was worht 24million?!?!).

That was the best I'd ever done in a game.

    Fair play Irish!!

My Barnet team went from mid-table in conference to finishing second in the premier leauge....losing out by 2 points to united :(
All done in 5 seasons, winning conference, third, second, and first in consecutive seasons...if i got the premiership..i would have won all the leagues in the shortest possible time...in champions leauge Q/F this season.
I've never done well at international level though....i've only ever got the Irish job...think the furthest i ever got was WC quater final :(

I got offered the Argentina and Portugal jobs but turned them down with the hope of leading Ireland to the final. I have won 4 Champions league and 3 League titles with Villa and on course for 5 and 4th.

In a "slightly older" version, I once won 20 consecutive league championships with Blackpool. Having said that, that was in the days when the best Defender/Midfielder/Forward in the game were Kevin Moran, Ray Wilkins and Nigel Clough (93/94) and Champ Man was that little bit easier!

In a later version, it was pretty cool when the French national team manager picked all of the first 11 from my Lyon team for an international.

Took the mighty Brentford to eventual Champions League glory in 00-01. I think I got up via the playoffs at the first attempt, then first divsion midtable obscurity, then up to the big time via the playoffs again, after a relegation threatened season eventually came a comfortable 15 or 16th with the freescoring Wiltord (on a free from Arsenal) my hero.

Champs League qualification the next season. League title the following season. Premiership and Champs League double glory the next season, with a golden goal from a 38? year old Dennis Bergkamp (on a free from the Arse) sealing the win. Bergkamp was great that season averaged 8.8 or something, never played more than 60 minutes and was usually a super sub.

I got to the world cup final with ireland in CM4... and then lost to France. :(
And i got Figo to come to Celtic in the x-box version of 02-03 for about 1 million, (he demanded a transfer from Real, and nobody else wanted him!). He scored about 80 goals in his one season in Glasgow, took Celtic to the Champions League semi final almost single handed, and then asked to move again, I got something like 15 million for him!

taking millwall to 4 league and champions league titles in a row(nver mind all the other wins, this was like 2012 - 2016 or something), with $$$ in the bank, a bunch of unknown home growns cause no one else worth buying and the boards constanty being turned down panning for extensions to The Den.

all the while being led by a then unknown am.... ronaldinho (till retirement at the age of 38)

I lost 4-0 to Roma in the semi-finale of the champions league. They had the lead on away goals too. But in the second leg... I won 5-0! Oh yeah, best comeback EVER!

Managing United in the Champ League group stages against Juventus in Turin, back with Champ Man 4. They were playing my guys off the park - literally might as well not have showed up at all - and unsurprisingly went behind but managed to equalise early on through an extremely rare adventure into their half.

They went back ahead not long after and laid seige to the goal. Between Wright and the woodwork somehow managed to keep it 1-2 for the rest of the game until in the very last minute of extra time Gerrard ventures up the pitch and slots one home to equalise. 2 chances, 2 goals. 2-2 in the most undeserved fashion you could conceive.

I laughed for the best part of 5 minutes. After all the games where the PC ****ed me over with super-keepers and nonsensical wonder goals from subs who never scored before it was sweet, sweet justice to be on the other side of that particular equation for once.

:D I know exactly how you feel...there is nothing better than when the most stupid, unrealistic and down right impossible result goes your way!!!

It may be Computer 4,587 - You 1, when it comes to those kind of games...but that 1 almost makes it all worth while!

I'd imagine that to be the closest any of us will ever get to expierienceing how Alex Fergosun felt that night in Barcelona back in '99 against B.Munich!!

lol, cheers for that post...gave me a good chuckle!! :D
