Trousers inside boots???

Just wondering what the consensus is on the current trend for girls to tuck their jeans/trousers etc inside their boots. I think it's the most rediculous thing I've seen for ages - who the hell thought they looked good like that???
and the other thing which is just as bad is jeans turned up about halfway down the calf and loads of boot (usually patent or shiny plastic) showing below it.

....tucking in your trousers - what are you, wearing wellies or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,278 ✭✭✭kenmc

oh good. i'm not the only one... interesting to hear girls viewpoint on this. do they think it looks good? do they think *we* think it looks good? did they see it in a magazine so it *has* to look good??? wtf?

Woman here, saying that it's possibly the most retarded thing I've ever seen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,967 ✭✭✭✭Zulu

    it's "fashionable", ....apparently.

Its the female equivalent of men tucking in their shirts when not in work. Looks stupid, somebody obviously wants to show off their expensive boots.

right the only time i found it nessesary to tuck anything into my boots is
    a-when horse riding
    b-when on a motor bike
c when cycling a push bike
d-when going up a muddy hill in baggy trousers (and even then i just usualy pull them up off the ground

this trend and pedal pushers and the flip flops out side of spain is just sad... and i think we all have to blame sex and the city for such stupid out fits..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,967 ✭✭✭✭Zulu

We can blame Sex in the City for plenty more.

Most of em are wearing wellies, that's exactly what those flat roundy boots doin the rounds at the minute look like!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,278 ✭✭✭kenmc

yeah but some of them are even in nice boots with heels and everything - ones that should be worn UNDER long jeans or with skirts...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,967 ✭✭✭✭Zulu

...boots and skirts, boots and skirts /me drools.

Oh, that reminds me: what about all them cretins that can't decide wheither they're wearing skirts or trousers?? (and end up wearing both)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,422 ✭✭✭cajun_tiger

oh zulu thats me.... hangs head in shame.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,967 ✭✭✭✭Zulu

    Cajun Tiger - explain yourself.
Is it as I suspected; you were thinking of wearing trousers, then thinking of wearing a skirt. This deliemma was taking ages to resolve; (as only happens to ladies, 20/30/40mins trying to decide what to wear) the phone rings, you get it; you're late, you run out the door; you realise you are wearing both trousers and skirt????

no i do it with dresses too but its really that i hate my tummy and i find tops too short and have a tendancy to show of my tummy but when i wear a dress its long enough and doesn't do that.. but then when i wear this 1 skirt with jeans its coz its winter and i really love the skirt but its linnen and see through so i have to wear something under it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,967 ✭✭✭✭Zulu

....wouldn't wearing a longer top solve this problem?
Never mind - I'm deep in the rhelms of female logic.

The most ridiculous thing you could ever here :
Girl: Does this pants go with this skirt?
    Me: No f*ckin way!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,422 ✭✭✭cajun_tiger

no because of my size and the clothing companys idea of a woman tops aren't long enough to cover breasts and belly..

now to be honest i only wear black... so most people don't notice i'm not one of these multicolored fairys

I don't mind that so much, think it *can* look quite cool depending on style of skirt, colors etc etc. as long as the trousers are not tucked into the boots mind you....

Far too much confusion there over what to wear...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

Some guys do wear trousers inside their boots (usually metal type peeps), I think it can look fairly ok.

I know a guy who tucks his hoody into his jeans in the mistaken belief that everyone wants to see his ass. Its so funny I nearly cry with laughter everytime I see him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,889 ✭✭✭Third_Echelon

hey.. ive seen a few girls with the tight jeans etc tucked into the boots... i have to say it looks great on some women.... usually the skinny type as they can 'pull it off'...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,092 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

oh zulu thats me.... hangs head in shame.....

I think skirt/dress and trousers looks cool....

but dont get me started on the boots thing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 169 ✭✭Gossip_girl

Personally I don't think it matters if your skinny or fat, jeans tucked into boots just dosen't look cool. If you really want to show off expensive boots just wear a skirt. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,518 ✭✭✭✭dudara

It really all does depend on your legs, they need to be super thin. I've seen some sausages on my way in to work every morning

Trousers tucked into boots don't look good - learn from the mistakes of the 80s!

Skirts and trousers together were original once but now hopelessly passé.

Someone mentioned that you should never mix pink and red - I disagree. It can work sometimes.

ahhh i ****ing hate tucked in trousers!

i swear to jesus i dont know WHO gave ANYONE the idea that it looks cool, but it looks ****, always and everytime.

i saw a girl wearing these pink tracksuit bottoms, tucked into and bulging out over her pink fluffy boots. i was like WTF, DO YOU NOT LOOK IN THE MIRROR BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE!!!

hey cajun_tiger why dont u like ur tummy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

It looks totally ridiculous, and far too many people do it anyway.

I also hate those flat shapeless welly-boots that seem to always go with the trouser tucking in. If you're going to show off your boots, try having non-hideous boots...

I confess I've committed the crime of rolling up my trousers which (if I can recall) somebody mentioned, but that was mainly because they were too short to wear non-rolled up, and 'twas summer at the time.

Jesus sera, you sure you're not me?

pink tracksuit bottoms ALONE is a crime against nature. Today I saw a fat woman in jeans that she really really didn't fit into (you know the type, spilling over the sides, makes her look bigger than she really is, etc), with them tucket into her big pink eskimo boots. I mean, really! Do some people never step near a mirror?

we should become the fashion police! and wander around with big mirrors asking people did they look at themselves this morning and do they REALLY think they look good like that?

i'd be run off my feet in college alone!

You ARE in UCD arts... Home of the BOP phenomenon.
    So nasty...
Ugg boots with jeans tucked in just looks so nasty. Saw someone in it today. And pink tracksuit epicentre seems to be the Square. Usually worn by someone with a big ass, 'gold' earrings and a buggy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

The Ugg boots are the worst.
Cowboy boots not so bad (which seem to be coming back into fashion)

Agreed. Ugg boots - glorified shearling house slippers - burn them all! :p

Cowboy boots can look great, but never with tucked in jeans.
Anyone wearing trousers tucked in to boots should be fined, then have their boots confiscated.

What're "Ugg" boots? that the ones that look like the Honey Monster? the big hairy ones? Appropriately named, although mis-spelled - should be a h instead of the last g - Ugh!
