Hope Southampton miss all the big teams, a cup run would get some decent morale in the camp. Knowing our luck, we'll probably get Everton and lose to a 124th minute James Beattie penalty in the replay having blown a 5 goal lead... twice.

I don't know why but I want Man U to get Sunderland and Aresnal to get Chelsea

Would that have anything to do with a potential showdown between Keane and McCarthy??? Although Keane wouldn't play, but he could quite possibly be on the bench!

And the other one that you'd like to see doesn't need a reason as it would a cracker of a fixture, however I'd prefer for all the bigger clubs to go further than the 4th round.

One of the most disappointing draws in years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Brian017

    Biggest ties are probably

Man Utd??? V Boro Mcclearn -against his old boss
Southamption V Portsmouth Harry against his old team

Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea all have home ties (if Liverpool and Man U get through).

I suppose once Soton got a home draw Redknapp was always going to be returning to St. Mary's. ;)

At least there's a big chance of the bigger teams going further in the cup meaning they meet at a more important stage (therefore producing bigger games).

I edit it. I just got caught up in the romance of the Cup.

liverpool are getting rediculously easy cup ties we got by far the easiest game in the carling cup, arguably the easiest in the CL, and another FA cup walk through match

Confident are we? Well, it's more than I can say.

agreed, utd always get the hardest of the lot in general terms. if they win trophies they always get drawn with a few big guns along the way. chelsea have it easy too most of the time.

Anyone any idea how one might get to the Hawthorns? I'm off that weekend, and running out of Spurs matches to see before I start travelling in March.

Ryanair/Aer Lingus to Birmingham. Its a bit outside Birmingham though, probably have to take another train.

If by the lot you mean the Premiership , then thats Bollix .

Poor Borough fans living in Teeside , having to go all the way down to Exeter .

i mean of liverpool, arse and chelsea. we get banana skin ties, the rest get 'if we turn up, we win ties'. alright we got exeter in the 3rd round but usually we get a tricky ties like decent 1st div sides or mid'lin premiership sides, boro a perfect example.

our luck in draws is not good. ac milan another example, chelsea even in the carling cup, 2 favourites there. thats just this season. i couldnt be bothered looking up stats but utd always seem to draw the short straw when it comes to cups.

chelski got barca in the champions cup.

also since in a way you can choose(to an extent) who you play in the 2 round of the CL cup you cant really give out about the quality of opposition you drew.

    The Champions Cup??
    It's not the '60's anymore.

Although, it's not strictly for champions anymore.

All games United have are banana skin ties to you.

United have just as much luck as anyone else. And if I think back in the FA cup they may have drawn some tough teams but they always seem to get the tie at home which is a huge bonus no matter who you play.

Yeah, considering you guys are all going from memmory its pretty silly :)
I TELl ya you ****ings utd ALWAYS GET THE HARD TEAMS< **** SCUMBAGS< STOP FIXING THE DRAW ARSENAL DEAN MAN!!!

Who cares lads in fairness. You have to meet a tough team sooner or later in any competition if you progress. That is just the way it is. I would personally prefer to get the hard opponents out of the way and then have an easy game in the final. Perfect example of this was United in the FA Cup last year.

    Ta.

Went searching last night, its actually quite easy to get from Brum airport to the Hawthorns, takes about an hour with a wait in between for the train.

Now all I need is an indication that I can get away tickets for the match.

Its kind of Ironic , it became the Champions League when they were just starting to let teams other than the Champions in .

I say change the name or restrict it to Champions only .
