A story I got in an e-mail regarding this question....

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighbouring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur's youthful happiness. So he offered him freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur, would have a year to
figure out the answer. If, after a year, he still had no answer, he would be killed.

The question was: What do women really want?

Such a question would have perplexed even the most knowledgeable man, and, to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. Since it was better than death, however, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everybody; the princess, the prostitutes, the priests, the wise men, the court jester. In all, he spoke with everyone but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

What most people did tell him was to consult the old witch, as only she would know the answer. The price would be high as the witch was famous for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no alternative but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer his question, but he'd have to accept her price first; the old witch wanted to marry Gawain, the most noble of the Knights of the Round table and Arthur's closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified, she was hunchbacked and awfully hideous, had
only one tooth, smelled like sewage water and often made obscene noises.

He had never run across such a repugnant creature. He refused to force his friend to marry her and to have to endure such a burden.

Gawain upon learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur. He told him that nothing was too big a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round table. Hence, their wedding was proclaimed,
    and the witch answered Arthur's question;

What a woman really wants is to be able to be in charge of her own life.

Everyone instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared. And so it went. The neighbouring monarch spared Arthur's life and granted him total freedom.

What a wedding Gawain and the witch had! Arthur was torn between relief and anguish. Gawain was proper as always, gentle and courteous. The old witch put her worst manners on display. She ate with her hands, belched and farted, and made everyone uncomfortable.

The wedding night approached: Gawain, steeling himself for a horrific night, entered the bedroom. What a sight awaited! The most beautiful woman he'd ever seen lay before him! Gawain was astounded and asked what had happened. The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she'd been a witch, half the time she would be her horrible, deformed self and the other half, she would be her beautiful maiden self. Which would he want her to be during the day and which during the night?

What a cruel question! Gawain began to think of his predicament; During the day a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his home, an old spooky witch? Or would he prefer
having by day a hideous witch, but by night a beautiful woman to enjoy many intimate moments?

    What a dilemma.

Noble Gawain replied that he would let her choose for herself. Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time, because he had respected her and had let her be in charge of her own
    life.
What is the moral of the story?

The moral is that it doesn't matter if a woman is pretty or ugly, smart or dumb. Underneath it all, she's still a f*c*!ng witch !

Hmmmm. It seem to me that girls only like nice guys under certain conditions. One of those conditions being after they've wasted a year or two on some complete ******* who could impress when they first met him. I suppose at that point your dealing with a woman instead of a girl.

And on that point, and with a risk of being flamed to bits here, a lot of the girls who waste the year or two seem to need healing. Specificaly, they need to pass their wounds on to some poor shmuck who's "nice". So basically they walk all over him like they've been walked over. When they're thru and the pain has been passed on it's "I really care for you and we'll always be friends".

Now, believe it or not I'm not *****ing. I suppose you could say that with everything women put up with it's the least we could do. On the other hand you could say it would be stronger to actually heal yourself rather than f*ck somebody else's life up.

I'm just wondering if anybody has had a similar experience or a view point to share.

Yeap,Nice Sensitive Guys dont get laid as much as egotistical love rats,i have been both and guess which one has more fun.
Oh and nice guy does one bad thing in a relationship and its game set match,"i thought you were different but your just like all the others"
Jerk Guy does one hundred things wrong and its like "cant you try to be a little more sensitive"

Excelsior> Good luck mate prove the rest of us jerks wrong wink.gif

Ways to mess with a nice guys head..........
    "Its not you its me"
"I thought you were taking our relationship too seriously"
"I need some time apart to sort things through"

    Rule 1.

Treat all women as people i.e. like males, until u decide you want to shag one of them.

    Rule 2.

Then treat them as sex objects just to shag until you find one that means more to you.

    Rule 3.

Treat her like a really sexy *mate*, and not JUST a sex object.

But then my experiences have been mostly negative, except for ones where I had no intention of using rule 3.

Heh heh. You're all single, aren't you? biggrin.gif

I have no clue about other people's relationships, but perhaps you guys should try to hunt down some women with self esteem, instead of emotionally unstable ones who need to "heal" all over you. Whatever that might mean. smile.gif I also suggest ignoring Paladin's advice if you want success...genuinity is the bestest.

    Oh, and what Lucy said.

And I rephrase. *I* like guys that are nice and I can have a laugh with...I also go for intelligence, but that's not everybody's taste. tongue.gif And good hygiene and common interests are always a plus. So, wash at least once every two weeks.

    Ignore my advice? pffft.

Lets compare records here. How many girls have u had? tongue.gif

And I never said my way was best for a relationship. Its just the best way to have fun. Why overcomplicate the issue with this 'relationship' thing tongue.gif

    And another thing. Im genuine.
Im either genuinely interested in a shag or Im not. smile.gif

And you all know, the guys who get most women are the ones that arent genuine, and PRETEND to be nice or whatever, but in the end obey my rule 2.

    You KNOW its true.

And all women say they want that Neuro. Well almost all.
Thing is, your'e out on the ****, a good looking fella comes chattin to ya, whats the big deal with scoring with him. Fair enuff you might be as tight as a titanium vice grips, but most girls wouldnt see any problem with a little fun under the Rule 2.

If you find one worthy of Rule 3 , then lucky you.

I should just point out, that under my Rule 2. there is nothing that says you treat the girl like sh|t. You can be perfectly nice and still have a laff and be friends or whatever without ever having a relationship.

And I forgot to answer the general question as to what women want. I thought you wanted to know how to treat them.

Contrary to popular belief, there isnt any secret. They either want YOU, or they dont.

I sure as hell aint gonna change to get some girl. If she aint right, then she aint right.

Its a cliché, be yourself, but unless you can convincingly be Brad Pitt or someone, then you have no other choice, unless you want to freak out around women.

So basically, women are the same as men, except they have breasts, vagina, different hormones, and leak once a month.

But what I mean is that they want a guy they are attracted to, and if he seems nice then most of them are willing to score (in a nightclub kinda place anyway).

So all you have to do is seem nice :/.
If she is worth a Rule 3. then see sentence - "they either want YOU or they dont".

Good point! And that's exactly what I have done. smile.gif
Still though, I do have one ex who I really could have done without. "Don't we all" says everybody. After I stopped being a nice guy and trying to do the honourable thing etc. I finally met some women with self esteem and now I'm going out with one of them. Not that I'm being a *******, but nice guys do get walked on, and not because they're door mats. It's because they care.

I think women want guys who are sincere. And Clean.

Is the personal hygiene thing usually a problem?

Hehehehe, man thats alot of replies.

I know what you meen Evil Phil, i told a girl i liked her once and she said " Can't we just be friends???" and gave me a hug.

Its weird i recently found out a girl i knew and liked for a good while did'nt fancy me.
I don't know for sure why but i really took it to the gut. Maybe its cause we'd been friends for a while, i don't know for sure.

I talked to her friend and another girl and they told me the exact same thing, that different girls like different guys and if it were'nt so life would be pretty boring.
The thing is i would never change the way i am to get a girl.

If you guys want you can keep this topic alive!!!

I liked this girl once, and I mean liked, for a long time. One of her friends told me she didn't like me that way, so I never told her. Just decided to be friends. She's emigrated now, but it turns out she did like me. eek.gif

I'll tell you what women need - HOBBIES!
Jesus, if more women had more hobbies, we'd have peace!

I was going out with a girl a short time after I started playing Quake. I was then not allowed play Quake and had to spend the time with her. I promptly told her to "Fu(k off!" and she came back to me and appologised, but all she wanted to do was spend more time with me. To which I explained that we could both arrange to do our hobby things at the same time and then not have any stress. "But I don't have any hobbies..."

    rolleyes.gifJESUS CHRIST WOMEN!!! rolleyes.gif

This has happened to nearly ALL of my mates.

Why do women need fellas to devote *all* their time to them. Sometimes, we've gotta work late, sometimes we're jamming, sometimes we're just reading a book, sometimes we're keeping tabs on what's new in our careers - why can't you understand that!

    AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

in my opinian women want as man with a big wallet and a big ****

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 171 ✭✭metalchicken

Personally, there's nothing specific that I look for in a man apart from a sense of humour, a brain and the ability to be nice to me. (and a nice big muscly torso and arms....)

Howver, I know from experence that I DONT want:
a moody man (they are really annoying)
a stupid man (again, annoying - for me anyway)
a man with no friends (why has he got no friends?)
A man who shares none of my interests (the weirdo)
a man who smokes (they taste bad - again that is obviously just for me)
A man who doesnt like going out to interesting places (that too is a pain)

But really, if you handed me, say, Ewen McGregor, Elijah Wood or Michael Biehn and they had the above "faults" I'm sure I could live with them biggrin.gif

Everyone wants something different. My "man" dislikes are very different to those of my best friends, they would never dream of going out with any of my ex's and i would never go out with their's.

    Bloody men.

    Funny enough I'm sure that ... hold on while I slow down for this one.... d i f f e r e n t w o m e n w a n t d i f f e r e n t t h i n g s.

Doesn't solve much I know, but I know I sure as hell don't want to be involved with a woman who thinks a mans aim in life is to get himself a girlfriend, and who sincerely believes thats all her life is about too. Some girls are absolutely shocked to hear that guys don't want to be told what to do, to be pinning for the next visit so on. Ideal girlfriend for me is a girl who has her own hobbies, as strong a mind as anyone and well capable of handling herself. No this isn't a girl who is dominant in a relationship - but instead an equal; interested in travelling, interested in doing things, not a girl waiting for some prince charming on a charging stallion. This all outside the realms of reality? Nope, cause I met a few foxy birds who more than hold up to this ideal. Just make sure you're not a wuss yourself smile.gif
