    Lostprophets at Ozzfest. Dire.

System of a Down and Slayer at Ozzfest were both terrible. And I was surprised at Slayer for being that boring.

Fear Factory weren't the May West either. More like Fred West.

Rule of thumb guys support bands normally suck anyway.

Agreed with Lost Prophets at Metallica thou they looked errr lost !!! Fell around the place laughing at Slipknot so at least they entertainment me in some fashion :)

Yeah Lost Prophetes were pretty bad but come on, it's the taking part that counts right? Right? Right?

the dandy warhols at witnness a few years ago
kings of leon this year at oxegen
as much as i love them: the misfits cos the sound was AWFUL

and the biggest dissapointment ever: The Cure at oxegen

one of my favourite bands ever and they play the dreary obscure crap no-one's ever heard...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,750 ✭✭✭ghostchant

i thought cyclefly and mushroomhead were much worse than lostprophets at ozzfest.
i can't vouch for funeral for a friend at iron maiden but i've seen them at their own shows and they were rather good.

worst live band i've seen were probably on/off who supported funeral for a friend in TBMC a year or so ago.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,842 ✭✭✭steveland?

i know one of the members of on/off and i can say that yes they're not the mae west at all...

but they're really just one of those bands who played blast all the time that really weren't all that good to begin with...

I'll agree about the Kings of Leon, but I quite enjoyed The Cure at Oxegen, and I'm not even that big of a fan.
To be honest though, I was quite happy that they were playing their old stuff rather than the shíte from the new album

thats fair enough i mean i was in a band and we were much worse than on/off so i suppose i shouldn't run my mouth about them :)
another band i really didn't like live were the warlocks at witnness a couple of years ago. their set seemed endless...

anyone who remembers Cubanate, who supported Carcass, in 1994 will definitely vote for them!

That whole Ozzfest day was one steaming shytfest after another until Therapy? came on and then the sucking continued with vigour until Slayer came on. Then it rained hard. Then I left.

We actually spent the day going to whichever stage a band was finishing on to get away from whatever crud was being played on the other stage :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,750 ✭✭✭ghostchant

i thought hell is for heroes were great at ozzfest though.
that's the one band i had gone to see and i thought they were the best band of the day.

From what I remember of the evening they played stuff mostly off Disntegration. Dreary yes, obscure no, brilliant definitely.

I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me but muse at oxegen 2004. Thought they were brutal and i was just geting into them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 181 ✭✭Droogie

Most definately the Lost Prophets or Linkin Park... Both times they were supportin Metallica... Looking back they were just plain boring! I found myself shouting abuse along with the rest of the people around me and that was the only entertainment I got out of the pathetic bastards... They were excuses for bands...

Ditto here, Lostprofits (sic) in Punchestown were as bad as bad can get. Far beyond $hite.
Apart from that, Chilli Peppers at Slane were crap. All their songs sound the same.
Disturbed at the Ozzfest in the UK in 2001 were pretty brutal too. I sat on a hill drinking a beer watching them (waiting for Mudvayne who were after them); the crowd just bottled them for the whole gig.
Oh yeah, I went to see the Outhere Brothers (of 'boom boom boom' fame) in Carlow in 1996 when I was at college there. It was great craic at the time, but I was young and foolish then

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 44 Sheol

yeah, chili peppers were a disappointment...musically flawless but totally uninspired... :(

and slipknot weren't that good either...ok...could have been me totally knackered after 2 days of moshing and drinking at the festival..but they didn't do anything for me...whereas metallica live....oooooh yeah!!!

Im sure they are great when they headline their own show but it seemed like they played the same song for 40 mins straight.
I was suprised too coz i heard they were great but maybe they were having an off night??

Slipknot? I thought that they were at the top of their game, thought they were excellent...

I'd love to see them headline tho :D

They have great stage energy... AND Sid crowdsurfed and i FúCKIN' touched him!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,034 ✭✭✭✭It wasn't me!

Yeah, Pixies more than made up for all the crap bands that day though. :)

Went to a gig in Waterford - sort of a promo/show case for local bands in the early 90s. The Madrigal were on the set so had to go, two of the other bands I don't particularily remember - but one of the bands was a heavy/indy metal band. Looked promising - but since the sound was sh1t and since they insisted on playing samples from a dictaphone thru' the mic as part of their songs which just ended up in a high pitched ear bursting feedback squeal - it was pretty terrible. But the Madrigal made up for it :)

    [Aside]
Best gig I ever went to was an acoustic Heather Nova gig in Whelans. Maybe not ~rock~/metal but the only word I can describe it as is spiritual.

    D.

    Class of Zero supporting Motorhead
    Foo Fighters at Slane 2003
but the winner has to be
The Frames - Witness 2002, they were absolutely crap.

Lluther. They supported HIM in the ambassador. They sucked. They got boo'd on-stage. Bet ya they enjoyed that

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,554 ✭✭✭herobear

by far the worst were puddle of mudd supporting korn in the rds '02 *shudder*
    they were laughingly bad.
class of zero comes close though, i was laughing my head off watching them roadie their own equipment off the stage.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,351 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

Massive Attack supporting Radiohead at the RDS a few years ago. Admittedly I wouldn't be a fan of theirs anyway, but the sound was crap and they were completely lost playing to an audience of 40,000, most of whom probably had no interest in them anyway.

Hey, you have to have respect for a band who's willing to roadie themselves. I've seen a few bands who have toured off their own wallets and roadied themselves (Dillinger Escape Plan and A Silver Mt Zion come to mind). I didn't see Class of Zero (nor have I ever heard of them) so maybe they looked like knobs. I don't know.

Prob would have to be chili peppers at phoenix park. Wouldn't be a huge fan but you could tell they were on autopilot. Suppose I should have left after the Pixies really. Who could follow them?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

I went to Slane a year or three ago with the other half to see... What was it now... Nickelback. Yes, yes, I know. I said I KNOW, stop sniggering like that. Anyway, the main act, Stereophonics, I think it was, were lousy. Complete and utter pap. Nickelback weren't great by any stretch of the imagination, but... Nyeh.

On the other hand, some of the other bands I'd never heard of were really rather good. Pity they were only on for a tiny while each.
