    It was Crap!
I agree with Ixoy overall, something about the episode just seemed off to me. Helen kind of ruined the episode for me aswell. Majorly annoying character, I hope she isn't in it too much from now on.

Well we did get to see what it was like when alcoholics make love (as opposed to those telepaths on B5). The big question is how do they make their stashes last for so long? I mean students can barely make their stashes last half the night before they need to make another trip to the off-licence.

I thought the introduction of his wife gave us a good insight into why the Tigh character is the way he is.

As for caprica, what is Helo going to do if he does get off the planet, how exactly will he find the fleet considering it is 30 days ahead of him and he would only be in a raptor type craft.

30 days and a long distance jumps away..
he's screwed, royally so. I hope something interesting happens to his character, and not a horrible win/lose scenario like he gets off and finds the fleet, or he simply dies trying to.

Like has been discussed before that the Cylons may simply be toying with the fleet as in they know exactly where it is...

If this is the case its possible that Planet Boomer may get the Coordinates of the fleet (by stealing a ship maybe, that was mentioned in the ep) and assusming they get off the planet they could plan the jump and rejoin the fleet.

It is theoretically possible Helo could rejoin the fleet.

Also perhaps the navigation officer is a Cylon and they've been flying around in circles the whole time.

Or Helo and Boomer could stowaway on a Cylon Basestar... perhaps they have a more advanced jump ability than the human ships.

the raptors only have tiny ftl engines though, for short ftl jumps ahead of the fleet. I don't think it would be able to catch up with the fleet quickly.. and I have to assume the cylons would have some way of locking caprica boomer out of the "inner circle".

Caprica finally going somewhere ,but still isnt making much sense.Surviving on a nuked planet (In suprisingly good nick as stated above)is a stretch enough but to think there are still military bases functioning is pushing it ,surely these would have been Ground Zero?

Actually, sorry to be pedantic here but the exact sort of nuclear weapon used on Caprica wasnt stated. On planet Earth here a nuclear bomb known as the the Neutron Bomb or N-Bomb, nicknamed the "capitalist bomb" was developed in the seventies by the US. "The bomb - properly called an Enhanced Radiation Weapon or ERW - is a specialised thermonuclear weapon which produces a minimal blast but releases large amounts of lethal radiation.

It is designed to kill people while minimising damage to property unlike a conventional nuclear missile."

If the cylons wanted to 'occupy' Caprica then perhaps it was best to have something there to occupy. Keeping the military system intact would give the cylons extra intelligence on the human military. Last bit just a thought.

Indeed that may be so deconstruct but your postulate would still have a high level of radiation that Helo and Boomer are exposing themselves to. Additionally, where are all the bodies? Removed? Did everyone flee somewhere because I think we'd have heard that.. It's all a bit odd but that, I guess, is in keeping with the rat maze nature of things.

Dont forget there have been several scenes of boomer and helo dosing themselves with Anti-radiation drugs. And afaik N-Bomb's are specifically designed to product radioactive products with a very short half life - so that you can move in and occupy enemy territory very quickly.

Isnt that supposition? I dont recall the range of a raptor being mentioned at all. For all we know all FTL jumps are for the same distance. It might explain how the fleet stays together so well - of course Galactica and other ships could be jumping less than their maximum.

That was the worst episode yet.

The whole "Adama may be a cylon" thing is rubbish! If adama was a cylon they'd all be long dead. I wish that president is a cylon then maybe someone will make her stfu! I can't stand her political and other nonesense. I'm surprised she didn't suggest turning round and making a peace treaty with the cylons yet.

The whole Baltar thing is getting out of hand.

    1. Adama seems smart enough not to trust one man with something to important, i wouldn't be surprised to see that he was keeping surveilance on him all along, or gets someone else to perform the tests alongside him.

    2. Its getting old at this stage. Everyones a bloody cylon, and Baltar is passing em anyways. For fraks sake.

Much as I love BSG so far, there was a fairly major inconsistency in this episode.

In previous episodes we have seen Cylon fighters engaging in dogfights with the Vipers and generally being blown out of the sky. Also in the mini-series we have seen waves of fighters advance on teh Galactica and get picked off by Galactica's guns.

Now in this episode we find out the fighters can instantly blip out into FTL flight and reappear some where else. In that event why not FTL past the Vipers and the big guns and appear just beside Galactica or for that matter inside Galactica.

It doesnt seem to make any sense.

They need time to charge weapons after coming out of FTL.

Galactica had to wait for all raptors to be on board before it engaged ftl, it pretty much infers that they don't have as exact or long range an ftl as the cruisers. It's pretty much common sense anyway.

in the orginal mini series they discussed this, the raptor had a limited ftl drive that would allow them to scout ahead of the fleet.

Not necessarally-remember this could all be and probably is a cylon study.
But I'd go along with you, how would they find earth, if Adama had been replaced? He doesn't know where it is but he has a good idea where to head.
Bear in mind as well that the writers are doing a good job in keeping the viewers guessing as to where all this is leading.

Because it's on its own, its a recon that is under orders not to fight but to jump regularally instead in the knowledge that as it's just the one it could be shot down quickly other wise.
Plus groups of cylons clearly would be there to fight

I enjoyed it. I meant to vote great, but it doesn't matter. They didn't do any long term harm to the show by giving us something to laugh at. Ixoy summed it up pretty much perfectly, I think I just appreciated the humour more for some reason.
You're the mod , you can change your vote :D

I enjoyed the comedy in this episode also,I only watched it last night-being behind as usual.
Other than that the episode flowed as ixoy described, a filler but nothing remotely like that would put me off it.
Roll on january 3rd ( or 33rd in my case when I get round to watching the next one :D)
