    Hi guys,

I know someone with under 5%...(but there is a medical issue involved). Scary definition though.

Olympians would be between 4% and 6% although I don't know of any that use hydrostatic measurement methods before competition so wouldn't be sure on how accurate those measurements are.

Is it a medical issue? How have you had it measured?

4-5% bf for a woman would be extremely worrying and well outside of normal healthy boundaries, even for a very fit young woman.

4-5% year round for a guy is quite unlikely, unless you are a competitive bodybuilder who can survive in stage shape indefinitely, or a prisoner of war.

How are you being measured? What weight are you? Would you consider yourself athletic?

Bear in mind the margin of error for the most common methods ranges from 2% to 10%. The best way outside of that would be an autopsy.

However, I'd caution folk not to be too concerned with bf% and more concerned with the mirror. In training for appearance and health you should never lose site of the goal ... which is you. You will be your own best judge of success, not a BMI, BF% etc etc.

My grandfather has 0%! Occupying an urn might be a mitigating factor though.

Yes i am very athletic pro - workout between 1-2 hours per day.
I measure it every month with the use of a calipers which i know are only as accurate as the person taking the measurements.
    3.5mm in chest
    6mm in abdomen
    7-9mm in thigh

I have tested ladies as low as 12% but mensuration will stop at about that level so its not recommended.

I weight about 80kg at about 6'2'' so slightly light for height but still very strong through weights - best squat 250lbs for 20 reps

The majority of men will not see their 6 pack until they get to at least 10% or below and even then its easy to just be skinny and have a low body fat
