Reports that the NX etc are taking over two and a half hours plus to get into Dublin. Sure there's no hurry with that train business, aren't buses grand, and we shouldn't be encouraging commutes outside Dublin? Meanwhile, in the real world:

Navan commuters at ‘breaking point’ as bus reliability collapses, says Meath councillor

An obvious quick fix would be to have the NX stop at M3 Parkway so people could change to the train! Perhaps even a new shuttle bus service between parkway and Navan timed with the trains.

The obvious question is why was there never any attempt at this between 2010 and now?

Right! It is mad, it is an example of the lack of joined up thinking that has always existed between BE and IR.

But it is TFI's call rather than any part of CIÉ, isn't it?

If the NX were to stop at M3 Parkway, they'd timetable it so that the train departs 5 minutes before the bus arrives.. just like any other "connection".

The reality is the train needs to leave at a scheduled time and can’t wait for a delayed bus tho.

Once the line is upgraded to DART level service with DART+ then it shouldn’t matter so much about scheduling the bus and train to connect. If you have decent frequency it is less of an issues.

It would need it's own dedicated shuttle service not as a diversion off the NX which would be a disaster as it would add extra time on the route. Realistically the NX would be better off if it operated via the Port Tunnel and skipped Blanch at peak times.

Are there not commuters going to Blanch from Navan?

The Bus Éireann 111 route (Athboy-Trim-Dublin) used to serve M3 Parkway around the time the station opened but this was reduced then from all/nearly all buses serving the station to one each way and then dropped altogether. It was listed in the timetables of the time and recall there was a poster on display listing bus-rail connections. Buses drove right up by the station building and back out.
