Time for a rebuild, what do ye recommend?

Hi All,

Current PC is 12-14 years old and it is time to rebuild I think.

What is the current fav setup for gaming, Amd or Intel?

I was looking at the https://www.paradigit.ie/msi-b850-gaming-plus-wifi6e/21820203/product/9423 motherboard.

What mid range cpu would ye recommend, for example on the current computer I went i5 in stead i3/i7 as I can update it later when things slow down.

How much ram and what speed?

Is AM5 Newer than AM44? Or just go intel?

Scrape the drives. It's all SSD's these days. You should also go AM5.

If you throw up a budget it’ll be easier to advise. What your keeping etc

Presuming your sticking with 1080p or are you planning on changing the monitor?

AMD is used in most builds , they win most performance and price battles.

Biggest cost will be the GPU and as of the last few weeks the RAM as it’s gone through the roof

A 6tb NVME would run you quite a premium, I’d just as soon keep it and grab a 1 or 2 tb Nvme, paired with the SSD I can’t imagine you’d want for fast storage.

CPUs I'd suggest:

• Ryzen 7 7800X3D - 280eur on AliExpress with coupons. That CPU could honestly last another 5-7 years, it's just a gaming beast.
• Ryzen 5 9600X / Ryzen 7 7700 - ~170eur with coupons. Either go with more cores (7700) or faster speed (9600x)
• Ryzen 5 7500F - 116eur with coupons - Most budget option, still very capable. Doesn't have an iGPU.
