Coat hangers - what to do with them?

Anyone know what I can do with about 100 coathangers that I found in a well overdue clearout of my wardrobe???

They're a mix of plain metal ones, and various styles of plastic ones with metal hooks.

I might be able to persuade the local recycling centre to take the metal ones, but the mixed-material ones? Landfill?

Google suggests charity shops might take them, but I seriously doubt that.

Anyone any suggestions? I hate the idea of landfill……

Or put them in your recycle bin.

Clothes hangers are hugely sought after. As said, a charity shop would be ideal. But even individuals (women mostly) would be glad of them. I never have enough.

The metal ones can be treated as scrap metal: Ballyogan has a skip for metals, probably other recycling centres do also.

I successfully disposed of old wooden coat hangers by bundling them in bunches of three identical ones together, and sending to charity shops or advertising on Freecycle pages.

It would be considered a small package. So a lot more than a stamp and you'd buy new cheaper.

Recycle bin for all except wooden ones.

Sorry, I saw this too late!
I was absolutely convinced that a charity shop would run me, but in fact they took the huge bag of plastic hangers. They didn't want the metal ones, so they went to the recycling centre. Wooden ones I love, I'm keeping all of those!!

But I bet there's another 50 or 60 where that lot came from if I ever get around to doing a proper cull of my wardrobe - I'll give you a shout if there is and we might come to some arrangement (I'd say postage would be plenty, it'd wind up a fairly bulky package)

A friend of mine returns the plain wire ones to the dry cleaners.

They are happy to get them back.

The plastic ones to the charity shop if they are in usable condition.

No, Charity shops have their own coat hangers made of wood or standard plastic.. You will be told they will be put in the bin.
