Smart fridges?

Hi, I'm on the market for a new fridge, energy efficiency class C at a minimum, max €850 - the less technology the better, but most of the fridges I've seen have some sort of smart features or other, so I have a good few questions someone might know the answer to.

I'm wondering, would they need an internet connection? If so, would they need to be connected all the time? Could they break down or malfunction if the signal was poor or non-existent? Do they need software upgrades? Can they stop working if something goes wrong during a system update/upgrade? Would they need to be linked to a phone/have some sort of profile set up? What's the story around privacy and data protection (I can't believe we've gotten to the point where I need to ask these things)? Would they have the ability to broadcast ads, like I've read somewhere recently? Is planned obsolescence strong (so they give up the soul the day after the warrantee expires) or so they usually last a good few years (10 or more)?

    Thanks.
