Nuts/Ration for finishing bullocks

I've 8 bullocks that I've brought in and need to finish. My plan was to feed them Gain Fast Finisher as its easy for me to go to branch and collect in half tonne bags. I've seen people commenting here that mills will do a ration cheaper than the nuts. Anyone an example of a good finishing ration and thoughts on rations vs nuts?

If you have a bird/rat/badger problem stick to nuts as there won't be any left over.

Rolls Royce except for distillers instead of pure soya bean, simple enough mix that in fairness. At least least no palm kernel or rubbish fillers.

who is providing that meal is it a big milling company? I think the finishing mixes are always better quality as the higher protein feeds they are always trying to reduce the cost as soya is very high cost.

using Kiernan milling buffalo beef here. Anyone use that got experience of it? I don’t have an ingredients list, I’d have to ask for one. I buy it loose from the local merchant. No big bin here yet

they have prints outs in the office they are supposed to provide you with one if you ask for bord bia inspections. Yeah it is a good feed in fairness. Has a great reputation, and is pushed as there top nut. I’m using it currently in small bags for autumn calvers just to give them more energy

Always heard about the buffalo being a great job. I was at a ploughing match a few years ago and their salesman put me off it! He was pushing cheaper options the company had.

was probably more of a margin on them products for him. But buffalo and high maize mix is there top finishing products in a nut and ration form. Bull power after that. I’m not far from them so there products are every where and in fairness they do a good job. They have a great weanling but in weanling boost also. We have Lakeland daries and p and v up here so no shortage of good mills.

Off topic but this caught my eye. Lakeland also have a 17% CP super beef nut. I get it from local mill for weanlings. All the other mills around here only have 16% CP.

do you use it? I didn’t see that nut in years I remember my father using it years ago non stop. We find there gold finisher nut top class, and they have a great calf grower nut also. Good to know that about the 17% be a handy nut around the shed winter for stores and weanlings.

they are poor at advertising there own beef feeds in fairness. They probably lose out a lot by not having better advertising, that’s how the younger people buy feed by how can waffle the most about the performance on there feed. I rang a top class mill one day enquiring about there weanling crunch a stand alone mill in Kildare with a great reputation and they more or less told me that not to bother buying off them that Lakeland’s has top class feeds.
