gutters overflowing problem

I live in a semi-d and the gutters at the back are joined to my neighbours. Unfortunately they nave the only downpipe - the way they were built.

This year Im having major trouble with water overflow from the gutters - onto the walls at back and generally swamping outside my back door.

My neighbours gutters are well blocked, I'm just wondering has anyone else had this problem and what did you do?

I hate having to go next door about it - do I even have the right to do so?

Is there anything else I can do?

    Any help appreciated.

There's no harm in going next door and explaining the problem. Why would they have an issue if you took on with having the gutters cleared?

Would it not be possible to contact one of the guttering companies and get them to put in a downpipe section above your property which would drain into one of your outlets?

Would take the strain off it all going to their end? Especially if they dont keep the gutter clear

Offer to clean out their part of the gutter at the same time as yours.

Do you know your neighbours? If they're approachable then I don't see any issue with calling in and at least asking do they want to go in with you to get all the gutters cleaned.

If they're not approachable you'll just have to look after yourself.

I had a similar issue in a previous property where next door was rented and neither landlord or tenant cared about any maintenance at all. I cleaned out my own gutters into a bucket and in the process of flushing them down my power washer might have 'inadvertently' fired down towards their side to ensure any overflowing gutters were on their side.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.
