new to stalking, I got permission to shoot deer 180acres, how ever all of the forestry has been cleared around it. There are patches of birch still standing close by. I’ve seen some fresh tracks here and there.
I’ve been told there’s sika there.

I can also hear red stags not far.
I’ve been over the past few weeks but seen f all.
Should I try find somewhere else to stalk until the forest is replanted??

Just looking for advice I suppose.

Strong chance they've moved on but they might be crossing the ground early in the morning or late in the evening. Can you borrow a thermal and have a scan of the ground maybe an hour or so before first light?

yeah I was gonna ask a friend that has one to come down some evening.
I might stick up a camera aswell.
Their in the process of planting now, so there is probably a bit to much activity going on there I’m thinking.

Once the disturbance is over they'll be back in straight away, I've seen deer on clear fell the same day it was being felled, crossing between grazing and cover.

are the sika more active at night??

Is it better to sit and wait for them to start moving or go walk about and look for them??

All deer are more active at night really, that's why Dawn and dusk are your best times to stalk. Sit and wait or move depends on the ground, can you move without being seen by animals emerging from cover? You'll learn this through making mistakes
