We have friends who are quite the generous hosts when they have people over to their house for dinner

We jokingly refer to the gatherings as “bon vivant candlelight suppers”

The hilarious part of the show (and the whole point of it really) was that Hyacinth was from a council estate but was trying hard to reinvent herself as a posh English lady, often failing quite badly though as her working class roots kept following her around (especially Onslow and Daisy) 😀

The original actress who played Rose, Shirley Shelford, only died in 2015. She left after the first series as she had prior commitments to another show, Making Out. Her replacement, Mary Millar, who went on to play to Rose in the four following series, died in 1998, only three years after the show ended. Because of this I think people get the two Roses mixed up, I had a Mandela memory for a long time that the original Rose had died during the series and that this was the reason that she was played by two different actresses.

I remember reading somewhere that the original actress had died (nothing to do with the Mandela effect on my part, this time, but I can't exclude that whoever wrote that had been affected by it).
