Help with heatpump system ...

    Hi there,

We have a samsung/joule air to water heat pump system, it's around 10 years old. While we've found it fairly reasonable for hot water during the summer, when we turn the home heating on in September, it triples our electricity usage instantly. Our thermostat has never seemed to work … if I set it to 16 at the moment, it has the house at 23 degrees. If I set it to 30 (just to test it, like) it makes no difference: it heats the house to 23 degrees. Does anybody know of a good electrician who knows these systems who could maybe help us out? I've tried a few firms over the past 10 years and quite frankly they've been useless for me: they just turn up, go through their set routine and say everything is grand and slink off with their money.

At this stage, I'm thinking of maybe going back to fossil fuel… but I'd like to at least try and give the system a go of working properly… :)

    Any ideas folks?
