Is there a shortage of blinker fluid in the country?
Shocking people changing lanes at speed and don’t care to indicate.

It's been mapped out of some cars.

no one would be dumb enough to map out a vital vehicel fluid like blinker fluid, now, would they.

the real issue is "blinkerfluid" is a brand name, you should look for a generic, the likes of,

Indicator Juice or, in a pinch, Lamp Lube, will also do as a temp job, i know its for mains / highbeams, but it dose work for a short time.

Jokes aside, it is a real issue. Vehicles just chjanging lanes randomly (often cutting someone off) at motorway speeds.

It's particularly endemic in Cork in my experience, though it's a national thing too.

I find myself making the point as follows when someone does it in front of me .. flash said dope to get their attention, flick the right indicator, flash again. Most of the time they find the indicactor when they move back left.

I always find the folks trying tobe sneaky and changing lanes really skowly without indicating to be particularly amusing

Do they really think they're getting away with it

Anyway, I try not to stress about it and I'd recommend others don't either. Unfortunately people's IQ seems to drop about 50 points when they're driving and if you make them aware of their stupidity they tend to go full caveman mode in response

When you think how stupid the average driver is, 50% are stupider.

Well that's a depressing statistic if I ever heard one! 😱😂

Unpopular opinion, but is indicating really that necessary when there aren’t any other cars around within 10m or so.. obviously motorway speeds you can increase that to 15m to 20m

Or when your in a left turn only lane for example. I mean there is no where else to go other than turning left so what is the benefit of indicating ..

Anytime I see someone changing lanes without indicating (and usually performing a late/wild swing across the road in the process) I mentally mark them as a risk and adjust my expectations accordingly

I think you're the type of driver who indicates or doesn't, I probably indicate even when I dont nessessarily need to, left turn only or if there is no cars in sight. But the consequences of indicating when you dont need to vs potential consequences of not indicating could be dangerous.

Its about allowing other drivers and pedestrians on the road to be aware of your intentions.

I’d be somewhere in the middle. Sometimes I don’t bother indicating as long as it doesn’t effect other drivers

If I am in a turn only lane in traffic, I generally won't indicate if I am a few cars back from the line. Otherwise, I indicate at all times.

On a motorway journey, I don't particularly mind if someone does not indicate changing lanes as long as there is very little traffic and they are not causing a hazard.

If your in a modern car with a lane keep feature then it's less hassle to indicate rather than force the steering wheel.

Understandable to not indicate when exiting estate early morning when no one around.
But on motorway when it’s busy - absolutely have to!

Was a crash this week on M50 one of many where tailgater smashed the car in front. Another issue after not indicating is tailgating on motorway speeds.

One time I sent the apprentice to get some "blinker fluid" - rang ahead and with he help of the local factors they gave him 2 x 25lt drums of water dyed with orange coolant - poor lad had to walk about 1.5 km carrying 50kgs of water - it weighed more than him!!! The sweat was pouring off him.

Then when he came back we told him it was the wrong shade of orange!!!!

The good old days of the motor trade -if you did that now you`d be up in the WRC.

cant tell if that was meant to be a joke in it itself but thats not necessarily how averages work

Surely indicating uses muscle memory? For me it takes more thought to not indicate than it does to indicate?

I presume that system (which I know nothing of) works the same after an overtake - I never signal after an overtake as it would display a lack of understanding of the first rule of the road / 'autobahn etiquette' - drive on the left / get out of the way.

Well if it's the median then half the population would be dumber since that's exactly the middle value of intelligence

The mean could be thrown off if there's a large enough number of exceptionally stupid or intelligent people in the population

Given there's a subset of people who will vehemently defend the idea the earth is flat, there's probably a good chance that the mean is pulled down by a group of idiots

In which case, less than half the population would be below mean intelligence and there's hope for humanity (despite the flat earth society being a thing that exists)
