Is it normal for a hospital to not send a discharge summary?

I was in UHL for 10 days in April and naively assumed my GP would have all the relevant information regarding my stay and treatment etc. Found out the GP had not received anything via Healthlink or otherwise. I filed a FoI request and finally got my records (seems complete with all docs notes, nursing reports, bloods etc.) in early August, copied the relevant procedure reports to my GP (not the way it should be….) and wrote a one-pager for them setting out what happened (diagnostics, diagnoses, treatment, outcome). But what's weird is that there is no discharge summary with info such as admission+discharge details, clinical narrative, medication details, future management. For all intents and purposes, had I not kept my GP informed, they wouldn't have known whether I had lived or died after being amber-alerted off to UHL. Is that in any way normal?
