Hi,

I'm upgrading my network. Starting out with a standard ISP Router, I now have installed a number of Tplink WAP's wired back to a ECS2100-28P Switch.

How do i add my ISP router to the above. Can i just plug it into a spare port and the Switch, how to i direct the internet traffic from the switch to the Router?

What was the reason for getting that smart switch? Yes you should be able to connect the router to the switch with an Ethernet cable.

Do you have an Omada controller for your access points? You could get a TP-Link Omada router with the integrated controller to go with the access points -

Not my setup, friend got it installed before they asked me. From my investigating, i think i can install a Software based Omada controller, for the access points.

Would the Tplink router then replace my ISP router, wonder if it easy to setup….or just a matter of ISP username\password

The controller software should be running at all times ideally so a dedicated controller will probably be needed unless you want to leave a PC running the software all the time.

You can keep the ISP router and get a dedicated controller for the APs instead.

I have no experience of Omada myself but if you are replacing the ISP router and connecting directly to the ONT, some ISPs need PPPoE username and password whereas Eir and Virgin can use IPoE. All ISPs need VLAN ID 10.

Just plug the access points, controller and ISP router into the switch with ethernet cables, you don't have to do any routing. Just turn off the WiFi on the ISP router also.

You could remove the switch altogether and just connect the access points and controller to the ISP router, if you'd prefer.
