east Galway. Did not sleep too much. The rain overnight was biblical. Just so loud and sustained and powerful. A Ridiculous amount fell.

Rain on and off most of the night and feeling cold. Rain this morning 7C at the moment. Ground saturated.

    This is not good.

an area of Louth I didn't know well. I used to head to the Cooleys all the time and Carlingford and I lived in Drogheda. Anyway you picked a great spot! Fab photo.

Take care on the roads tomorrow morning and then later tomorrow evening and night. This is not a named Storm, but IMO it will bring stormy conditions across the country. With trees in full leaf there will be lots of blowing debris and fallen branches.

Yet another showery day. Possibly a thunderstorm on the Cavan/Monaghan border with seriously high rainfall rates under that shower

    Those skyscapes are stunning guys.

All gone grey now, waiting for the inevitable rain to arrive in Meath.

Lovely photos. Alas rain all morning here. Desperate stuff indeed. I can see a quick break abroad on the cards if this keeps up.

Can't believe I'm contemplating putting the heating on today. Cold day outside & no solar heat gain as it's a total washout so far.

You know the way you look at the forecast and your prepared for rain and all your doing is dropping your child at an activity, and you have the raincoat and umbrella and your prepared for battle but your still shocked by how bad it is and how wet you get even though your only out in it for five minutes!

It's bad out there, stay indoors, do not make unnecessary journeys!

Class @sryanbruen Early Bird and all that. Didn't realise a fabulous sunrise due with the horrible forecast the one morning I not up early. Very heavy rain at 10oc. Cleared now again. Horrible out for all the outdoor activities on around today.

The wind is unreal here in NCD, everything blowing over.

Dublin should be on status yellow too tbh. Was out just now and they’re some of the strongest winds I’ve ever experienced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 459 ✭✭Ros4Sam24

Must be 60 or 70mm down in North Ros since Thursday and still lashing. Ground is in a bad way now here. The forecast doesn’t give me confidence that will change anytime soon

The rain is the issue in South Wicklow so far. Bucketing down since about 8am. I posted about this before but rain seems to get stuck over Wicklow it's so annoying. Must be something to do with the mountains I don't know but the heavy band of rain cleared the rest of the East coast ages ago but a patch stubbornly remains over us. Wind isn't bad at all here.

As for Dublin being in a yellow warning Casement recorded a top gust of 80km so far, Dublin airport 69km so a good bit off yellow warning criteria. The first notable windy spell of a season always seems worse than it is, particularly when trees are in leaf and we've had many months of calmer weather.

Thought the rain was clearing Greystones about an hour ago but sheeting down now. Nice day for inside (and watching rugby) with drinks!

In fairness, it often works in reverse where the Wicklow mountains will soak up the rain and/or part the clouds leaving us dry and in the clear. Just so happens that the particular atmospheric parameters today are triggering rain and cloud generation this time instead. We have to take the bad with the good.

Yep, just back from shops and reminded me of being a child when you would be walking to school and wind would blow you down the road.

North Wicklow here. Lashing rain. Not too much wind.

Turned out a grand day in Kerry , windy with good sunshine and passing cloud and a few showers , mild at 17.4C , just 2.2mm recorded.
