Dublin bus stop numbers

Would it kill dublin bus, or whoever is responsible for these things, to make sure that stop numbers are clearly displayed? Just got on a bus at Beaumont hospital. TFI Live says the stop number is 4597. That number is nowhere to be seen. Instead it says stop 254. There are two other numbers displayed on various parts of the bus stop. None of them are 4597

First world problems.

Most stops my routes in Limerick city have absolutely no sign or marker to indicate the existence of a bus stop.

If you don't have the local knowledge of where they are you're fuked.

If you're looking for stop 4597, have you tried, I dunno, the shelter closer to the junction?

This is 2019 Google Street View imagery. The two shelters are considered two separate bus stops. The first one is 4597, the second one is 254. They happen to share their RTPI screen because it's possible to conflate multiple stops onto the same screen.

According to October 2024 imagery, stop 4597 now carries a green-and-yellow disc instead of the blue-and-white seen in 2019.

…To be fair, that Beaumont Hospital loop has always been a joke for public transport information and as often as I changed buses there, I wondered where any sort of proper information could even be installed on stop 253.

I wouldn't agree, the old city swift livery looks pretty dated now, though it definitely wasn't the worst.

Interestingly I've heard many foreign tourists on forums and videos comment positively about the "Green" buses of Ireland. It feels like the new livery is starting to become somewhat iconic for Ireland like the red of London Bus.

I think you are correct, but I find these kind of "multiple" stops annoying - on the TFI app you have to zoom in to find the separate stops and then guess which is the correct one.

Or you could use the search option in the top right corner of the departure window, above list. Just type the stop number and it comes up automatically

I don't think this was specifically a CitySwift design, the CitySwift bus shelters usually had that logo on the glass. Bus stops and shelters were painted blue during the era of the blue and cream "core" livery.

Could've had it originally. Glass has probably been replaced multiple times over the years as we all know scrotes have a tendency to smash shelters. You don't seem to see as much these days.

It could well have but it is true that most shelters were painted blue in the late 90s, with or without City Swift branding.
