They printed a second receipt. So this is a copy, not the original. Sometimes happens when the paper jams or whatever.

I'm not sure why you care enough to be in overdrive or start a thread.

Just eat the damn stuff and stop worrying about the receipt

What's the problem? Were you thinking that you might need to return the digestives if you didn't like them?

Ah the Dingle Lidl, the worst Lidl in Ireland. They have a stupid rule that they don't allow you to take your basket to the packing shelf (the clue is in the name lads), this results in the longest queues of any Lidl. I got really thick about it the last time I went in, and after each item was scanned I picked it up and brought it over to the packing area one by one. Everyone was pi553d off but I made my point.

Maybe try to see your GP asap, and ask them what you should do about this reciept that is worrying you

    such first world issues.

Person on the till had pressed "no receipt", but you wanted a receipt. So they printed a "copy receipt".

I really can't see any issue here whatsoever.

You should look into the lidl app. You can store digital copies of your receipt if you scan your QR code. You can also add a payment card and pay through that too.

ffs the snark in the comments.

All they were wondering was what it is.

Generally It's a good idea to get clarification on stuff you encounter for the first time in the world so you know for the next time.

Just may so they know if they get a receipt like that again after buying a 55 inch tv in lidl they know the limitations of if they can return it with this type of receipt.

it was just me who took the 'i've been in overdrive' as a joke, so?

i have seen similar recently and also wondered what it was. it piqued my interest because in the same lidl a year or so ago, i saw a manager refuse a refund because the customer did not have a receipt, even though the customer had come prepared with the information - and links on his phone - that he did not need a receipt, but proof of purchase, which IIRC he had in his lidl app.

    Good point.

A lot of middle aisle stuff in Lidl comes with a 3 year guarantee.

Will they accept this copy receipt for guarantee claims ?

the paper may say 'not a receipt' but it's clearly proof of purchase, which is what would be required to follow up on a warranty claim. so functionally, i cannot see a difference between a 'receipt' and a 'not a receipt', except having to explain the lack of difference to uninformed shop staff.

I would hope so but I'm not certain so there's no harm asking.

A lot of their warranty claims are not handled in store so you'd be dealing with a third party online or in a call centre.

It's a paper receipt clearly provided by Lidl for the items purchased.

There's no way they could claim that doesn't prove purchase in that store at that time.

The only time I get a receipt like that is when I've 'Digital receipt only!' switched on in the Lidl plus app and they then print out a physical copy. Suggest you check in your app if you have it OP.

I've been in overdrive since receiving copy not sales receipt

On the off chance you're being serious, there a far worse things that could happen! That receipt will still be valid for warranty on those tools if that's what concerns you.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

have you used self-service in lidl? does the receipt on the app allow you to leave?

i've never noticed anyone scanning their phone to activate the turnstile to leave, just paper receipts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,181 ✭✭✭Buffman

Based on what I've seen, the self service till overrides any Lidl Plus settings and prints a paper receipt automatically.
