Just wanted to say I tried the leap top up app this morning and it loaded my monthly ticket, so at least the app issue is sorted.

Now for them to get on and fix the issue on validating on Bus Eireann and Go Ahead commuter services

Still have some drivers on BÉ claiming to be unaware of this issue.

Are they liars or is communication that bad in the company?

Notice sent to depots multiple times now so they either lying or simple aren't paying attention.

At the start maybe because not every shift starts in the depot or ends there but 4 months later yeah I dont believe they dont know now

Anyone hear if this is getting any closer to being resolved?

As of mid last week irish rail tax saver said they'd no update other than testing was ongoing. Been like that now for a month.

Madness how we'll soon be 5 months into the start of the new ticket and its still not working correctly.

More people need to be emailing them

Radio silence in the last 2 weeks from Irish Rails taxsaver dept, no updates on the website, NTA not replying to TDs.

An absolute shambles. We really need more people to keep raising this. Nearly 5 months into 12 month tickets and they simply dont work on services

I'm having my own taxsaver nightmare with my HR department and Irishrail. My annual taxsaver renewal this month has not loaded onto my leapcard for collection despite attempting multiple Irishrail TVMs/validators at different stations with no record of the ticket loaded or pending collection on my leapcard.ie profile so I'm paying train fares out of my own pocket this month with my salary being deducted. Irishrail have outright lied to my HR department claiming the ticket is awaiting collection at their TVMs and now my HR department are ghosting me

Is there value in having one of these if you're a Dublin commuter going into the city? Currently twice a week.

Probably not for twice a week, would be cheaper to pay as you go.Works out better if you are using them all the time.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I'm wondering if I have been given the wrong information by an NSSO employee. We recently got a circular saying that they are closing all but two of the application windows for the annual taxsaver ticket. So now they will only run from Jan to Dec or July to June. Mine was due to expire at the end of March. I raised a ticket for a new one in Jan just in case . I rang NSSO last Monday to see if I would be charged double until end of March or could I cancel my current ticket at the start of Jan. They advised me that I would have to get a monthly ticket until July (or pay individually for each trip) and so I cancelled the ticket for the new taxsaver ticket. Is there anyone else in this boat and what did ye do in the situation. I had been on leave for several weeks in october so missed the emails regarding this until the final date of application so figured it would be easier to apply and cancel.

This is an issue with your employer. There is no change in how annual Leap tickets are issued. It sounds like a typical civil service productivity increase change.

They could have you on a rolling monthly taxsaver renewal perhaps? Works the same except you have to validate it every month. I'm in that as I put in my renewal application for my annual too early during covid (with all the free extensions granted, I wasn't certain when I needed to renew).

This came direct from NSSO, no need to get snarky about the civil service.

hmmm I don't think that is an option with the civil service unfortunately. Thank you though.

The point is that it is the NSSO that have decided to restrict to specific windows of their own volition - Irish Rail (who issue all Taxsaver NTA tickets) do not have such a restriction and are not introducing one; they'll sell anything at any time.

I had a previous private sector employer that would also only process annuals in January, so it isn't just your employer that does it; but it is your employer making the decision.

Sorry for dragging off topic , but I bought a 7 day zone pass on the leap card top up app. Money was taken but no sign of it on the app? Any idea?

Yes, UCD used to do that (probably still do) which meant quite a lot of the time I couldn't get a taxsaver ticket as was on fixed duration postdoc contract which may not last till the end date of the duration window as you near end of contract. It was a particularly miserable thing for a university to do considering most research staff are not on permanent contracts. My current public sector employer will purchase any time.

Thank you for going into more detail. Apologies for the rude tone of my previous message. Yeah its ridiculous. I originally was a Jan to Dec user but a few years ago when the prices reduced I had three months free added to my card which meant then I was applying for a renewal to start on the 01st April through no fault of my own. I honestly don't see how this is a better use of resources, having everyone apply at 2 specific times. Surely it would make more sense to have several batches throughout the year, instead of having so many civil servants out of pocket now for three months.

At long last some sort of resolution for taxsaver multimodel ticket holders.

So, tickets issued up to end of September dont validate on bus eireann or go ahead commuter buses. When pushed on it the default line is nta working on a fix etc.

Those issued from October start dates do work and so do monthly tickets. After a long back and forth my tax saver admin got irish rail to cancel my current ticket and issue a new one on a new profile and refund the one that doesnt work.

A new leapcard arrived and it works on all services.

This is the resolution, however they dont want to do it for everyone given the manual work involved. Their still working on a software fix and the date for completion is end of December. Which is mind blowing given the tickets will be in use 7 months at that stage.

Can you cancel an annual Taxsaver ticket mid year as Leap/Taxsaver have failed to honour their side of the deal by issuing a ticket that does not work? I have had a replacement ticket since June that won't read at barriers/stations saying purchase necessary but when put it in ticket slot it shows the annual ticket and it also shows in the Leap app on the phone but noted as Pending/Inactive. I have been fobbed off for the last 3 months with Taxsaver finally admitting today:

The ongoing issue is due to a technical issue affecting the replacement Leapcards- there are numerous customers affected by this issue and it is being treated as high priority.

The issue is currently with Leapcard and the NTA to investigate and resolve- we have not been given a timeline form them as to when the issue will be resolved but we will be in contact with customers affected as soon as we have an update.

In the interim we can supply customers affected with leapcard €50.00 credit- we can additional credit when required to these cards upon request by the customers.

Can you please confirm the full leapcard number and I can request for credit?

Should I do what the poster above says and demand a brand new card for November onwards?

Sounds like the best way to go.
